I learned a lot from my 2 year old son

I am currently away from my family to work overseas. Last month I invited them over for a month vacation. It was the first time my son went overseas. I missed them a lot that the whole month was not enough for me to enjoy having my baby around.
During his stay, he always smile and say "Hello" to everyone we meet and people are so fond of him that they smile back and say "hello" too! This simple gesture of my son thought me a lot.
At this day and age, everyone of us are busy with our own business doodling with our gadgets and not minding the people around us. My son thought me to be mindful of my neighbors, interact with them and break the ice by saying a simple "hello."

I agree. Children nowadays easily adapt to the current technology trends. They easily learn how to use most of the gadgets out there: laptops, ipad, iphone, etc.

This is a very cute subject - learning from our kids. You are right. Unfortunately as we grow up life's demands increase, and often we do not take the time to acknowledge people near us. We are far too busy and obsessed with other things, like money, work, chores, errands and errands. Social networking has also had a negative effect to a certain extent as some people seem to prefer to chat on a computer rather than meeting in person. Say hello to your cute little son for me

Hi grkelly! Indeed, nowadays we are too preoccupied with our own stuff that we are too busy that we rather prefer to chat, or just leave emails to our acquaintances than to actually meet them in person.
I have sent your regards to my little boy, :) Thanks!

It is a shame that you have to work overseas and not live all the time with your family. I feel that it was lovely that they visited you and your two year old son said hello to everyone. I know a simple hello can bring charm to the day and make everyone feel happier. Saying that is a superb way to break the ice. Well done to your young son and I am happy you have learned a lesson from him.

Thanks maximax8 for your reply. It is due to my country's economic situation that most of my countrymen decide to go elsewhere to look for a job that would provide a decent living for their family back home. This is a lot of sacrifice for us to be away from our loved ones of some time but it is worth the risk. But I do make it a point that I would be available to them during their milestone moments: birthdays, Christmas, graduation, etc no matter what. Being present and actually being there during those moments are very important for our little ones.
