How tempting it is to pass on the pain. Someone hurts us we want to hurt them, to 'get our own back' or perhaps worse to hurt some other person or animal. This permeates all cultures and nations. But passing on the pain just increases the pain.
It is so hard but so worthwhile to struggle not pass on the pain
"Blessed are the pain absorbers, for they shall see their pain turned to glory!

Hi urban, That is very true I think of all cultures and of humans in general. When someone hurts us, we want to hurt back. The old Jewish law said an eye for an eye but Jesus disagreed. In the last century, the great Mahatma Gandhi said "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind", and of course he was right. Somewhere, sometime, somehow, we will have to learn this. Blessings.

Very true, though eye for an eye I understand to mean, do not take more than an eye for any eye; limit your revenge to that which is equivalent. Still even that is so very different from Jesus injunction to turn the other cheek and to forgive our enemy

Sorry, I am confused, what is anti-Semitic here?
Actually, for Christians the most important commandment is that given by Jesus.
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment. kjv

I see, though its use here is not anti-Semitic demonstrating only ignorance of that particular fact, which, being not widely known, is reasonable.
Now I am interested to know what is the status of Exodus 24 then, is this not Jewish Law?

Hi,
You are right. We should try to educe the pains of others and not to pass our pains to others. We should be good to others. And don't hurt others physically or mentally. We should love on animals also and not only on human beings. God created this world for all the animals.

Hi urbandekay,
When someone hurts us and we want to hurt them. This is non other than ego. The ego that the person hurted me and now I want to make him feel the same. You may do something for that person and then that person feel the same again rather than realizing. An then the same loop repeats again and again. And this is why we are imprisoned in the cycle of happiness and sadness again and again.
That's why the statement, "Blessed are the pain absorbers, for they shall see their pain turned to glory!!!" holds the greatest truth. It leads us to unconditional love beyound ego. Its the best way to utilize the opportunity of available human life. Others may laugh, may think stupid, so what? People don't realize how stupid they are, because they are all immersed in the depths of ego and hatred...
Happy mylotting...

No I not such habit if someone hurt me then I not hurt them. But I cry and think why they hurt me which mistake was me. But I think we can learn lots of things from our pain.

I have a different view. if we keep the pain within ourselves our health may be affected. so tell others about your pain so that it comes down. but we should not harm others just because we have pains.

Of course you can tell others of your pain, if you really believe that makes you ill but that is not passing on the pain
