How can I get my two cats to get along?

I have a two and a half year old cat named Missy. Recently I got a six week old kitten who I named Shadow. I'm had Shadow for nearly two weeks now and my older cat still isn't warming up to her. Missy hisses and growls and then walks away. Missy used to sleep on my bed but she wont anymore because Shadow's in there.
How can I get Missy to accept Shadow?

Missy may not ever accept Shadow, Try playing with one of those mini fishing poles w/cat toy on the end. Sometimes playing together helps. of course try not to favor one over the other. But cats are very territorial. How are they doing now? I see your original post was quite awhile ago.

Aww, that's great you adopt animals and sorry for what's happening.
I have a difficult one, she was left to die and had blood in her face when we rescued her and because of whatever humans did to her she was so angry. So she turned that towards the cats while we continue adopting them. Now we have four, she didn't get along with any of them, she met one when she came and then I rescued two others together, again she was difficult.
I'd say time is the remedy. I still see few scratches in one cat that is very nice and goes after her, making her company but many times she wants to be alone and I think that's when she rejects the sister and put her nails in her. But nothing serious and not often. So it's time. Like humans they adjust in time. Just try to not put two males together. I have one male and three females, of course he's neutered but we wanted to rescue another one and didn't because he was a male.
