there are many sites generally and on univerisyt level offering online courses for free to learn programming necessory for web designing . There are many sites that can help you learn by playing such as:
code avengers: learn java, css by playing games,
kidsruby, mainly programmed for kids to help them learning progranmming,
gotoAndLearn: for adobe flash development,
village88: a user friendly website helps you learning to code by mentors.
these are amaxing sites that can help you to code and be a we designer:).
