Does this phrase "I work better under pressure" sounds familiar to you? It is to me. I have a writing assignment and I need to complete it within 3 days' time but I only start doing it on the third day, the last day of the 3 days given to complete my writing. I don't know why I can think faster and work better when I am under pressure to meet the dateline. Is this good or bad? Have you mylotters experience this?

This true for me in certain situation but not always. There are times when I don't write under pressure. This commonly applies when I really need to have some and think about things that I am going to write. Writing fast is good but if the whole sense of the content is bad, there's no point in having it turned early.

Micha, if you are writing for financial reward then you shouldn't wait for pressure before you start writing. You should be able to make use of your time well and you would be able to make more money.
Writing under pressure makes you write fast but it leaves the article a little short of perception, unlike when you are writing with a lot of time at your side your article will be perfect.

The only time I write without pressure is when I'm mylotting and blogging. Because it's fun and so much to share and write. But I think the key motivating factor for me to write is reward for my work. It's $$$ *laugh*.

I work better under pressure, although I hate being under pressure because I get extemely stressed out about it. I tend to start things early with the intention of working through it slowly, but it never works out that way.

It's the same with me mandy. I think, maybe I need more work so that I cannot afford to relax. Will try looking for more work.

Absolutely! I find my brain works much better when I only have a few hours. I tend to over think and over research if I have several days to complete a piece. A couple of weeks ago, I accepted a high paying assignment, 4 days before it was due. I did a little reading beforehand, just for background, but I didn't start the actual writing until the morning it was due.
I find my writing is much sharper when I have less time to think about it. However, I always leave enough time to leave the piece for a couple of hours before going back for the final edit.

Everybody writes faster when under pressure but what I have noticed when I write under pressure is I fail to put all my efforts and the article fails to amaze me because the article turms out to be below par.

I know that some people perform better when under pressure, and that for me is the true measurement on how really good a person is. In a state where one easily panics and lose concentration, I admire those who can pull it off and pull it together and turn in a really good output.
I cannot say for certain if I am one of those. I do have a few moments wherein I turn in really good works when I'm under extreme pressure, and there are also those moments that I told my boss that it is not possible and I need more time and I stood my ground on it.

Raine, I just delivered my work about 3 minutes ago and I did it in about less than 5 hours time with a few breaks in between. Actually, I couldn't believe I could complete it on time. But somehow my adrenaline shot up and my brain just keeps on going. So far, I am able to do it, doing assignments at the last day but I really am not sure if I am able to do it all the time. Anyway, I better start doing it right, working immediately and finishing it quickly. Better be safe than sorry.

Oh yes. I've experienced it too many times. Way back in my school days.
Like Cramming for exams, I get to study faster. or when there's a submission for a project, I do it faster too.
I guess it is bad. I mean if we have some time in our hands, we'd better start working on it soon so we won't have to cram, right?
Cramming never produces good stuff.
In my experience, when I cram so much, I tend to get so many mistakes. Sure my mind is filled with ideas, but my mouth and hands can't pick up.

Hello micha5088,
Welcome to my life in general, I seem to work best under pressure - right now I have a project which is due today and I have only made the bare minimum, yet today seems to be a bad day for me as I tend to procastinate - which is not a good thing and I will hate myself in the end for it.
