How can you enjoy life when you have so much responsibility towards your work, family, others who are depending so much of you. Every time I think of going somewhere or spent a little for myself, I would readily say, "Oh it is a waste of money, I would rather reserve this for my family, etc., and I always get a negative reactions from my friends. "Give time to yourself," that is what I always hear from them. Please comment.

I usually always get over the negative impacts on my mind caused by others quickly. I try to find happiness under all circumstances and try to enjoy life.

Giving yourself a break means allotting even a 15-minute time to clear your mind, think NOTHING about problems and exercise deep breathing. That's how most people does it.
Random people may use their "Me time" doing crafts, hobbies, smoking to relieve mind stress, roaming around at the park for even 15 minutes of their time to see good sights or enjoy morning coffee without thinking ANYTHING at all.. even that "hell, no.. don't give a damn about time" attitude and just being worry-free for 15 minutes.
Try it. there's a science behind it for me and for most people I know why they're doing it and how do they do it. the brain sends out Endorphin or that secretion (from somewhere in the brain) that "good feeling" and good mood, good vibes and good stuff in your perception as you try it for the next 15 minutes. Then it allows you to think clearer after that allotted time. See how businessman have their nap time even for 15 minutes during flights? Let them be since the next thing ahead is another battlefield which requires them tough decision-making and stuff.
Being yourself or giving time to yourself, giving yourself a break or whatever you may call it, it doesn't need to be expensive. I've read and am trying to emphasize the "rather save it for the family" quote you've mentioned because I am a breadwinner, too. Not just as simple as that, I am a mentor of a non-profit group, a chat representative as my job and an entrepreneur of a small bead shop and accessories store. But whatever things or sh**t occurs, I always take a deep breath, grab than planner and coffee, write joyful thoughts and motivational stuff created on my own and let it go. That's what I called "Me-time"
Thanks for letting me share my point of view and happy mylotting :D

There are various of enjoyment. Some do it by helping people. Some are happy being with friends and family. there are many ways of being happy like watching movies, enjoying a walk and all. It all depend on individual life. My way of enjoying life may seem disgusting for someone else. But the fact is everyone does find their way of enjoying life.

Hi nita04,
Like your friends say, "Give time to yourself", its the best thing in my opinion. The best way to learn to enjoy life is to learn to live in the Present. To learn to enjoy the things, we do. If we keep thinking of something else, where we are doing something, then we cannot be happy. People have the tendency of living either in the memories of the past or in the dreams of the future, which deprives people from living in the present moment, which is the only time we have. When you spend time with you friends, be present and happy with your friends, don't think of your family and other. When you are spending time with you family, be fully with them, don't think of your friends. Earning of money is never enough, We have to be happy with what we have. Wanting to have more than what we have deprives us from the joy of life. I hope it helps....
Happy mylotting...

Hi,
It is easy to enjoy life without going somewhere. The selfless act of being responsible for everybody should give you lots of enjoyment. If you fail in this aspect, then you are giving yourself a really hard time doing the works. Try to find the small rewards for your sacrifices, the smiles of those whom you have helped, the trusting eyes of the family you are responsible for, these and many other simple things could make life more enjoyable.

Hi Nita, i can relate to your situation since i've been a bread winner in our family since we're not lucky enough to have responsible parents. and it's really true that it would also make me think before spending the money to any thing that's not so important but I realized, somehow, i should give a reward also to my self as stress reliever.we also deserve it.
