Am I considered a millionaire?

I told made a promise to myself at 14 that I would become a millionaire at thirty. I am just a few months away from it and I am at my most horrible financial state. It has not been so pleasant with me lately.
I then met with a classmate and friend of mine on a holiday despite the fact that I am almost rock bottom. Indeed, I wasn't wrong with my decision. All that we saw and did was just worth it. We then talked about what grown ups usually end up talking about, MONEY MATTERS.
She was so quick to tell me that I shouldn't feel bad coz technically I am a millionaire already. Since I started working, if I would compute all my wage, then indeed I am a multi-millionaire. I only just didn't save them all in the bank, instead I used them to enjoy life. I travelled, I ate and cooked good food and been a very diligent tax payer. Now, my spirit is lifted up to strive more and earn that million in the bank or maybe not. Maybe, I should just say, I'll become a millionaire at 40!:)

I think that if you have the money, it's better to spend it and enjoy it rather than just letting it all pile up in the back. Yes, it's great to save, but you should put some aside to save and then also put money aside that you can use to enjoy life. Because when it comes down to it, you only live once and you can't take your money with you when you go so you might as well enjoy it while you have it :)

I agree with you on this one.I know people who spent their whole entire lives working their butts off to be considered 'wealthy',at the end they all regretted it,because even when they achieved that goal they just couldn't stop.
I say we only live once and this user asked ''am i considered a millionaire?'',working hard all your life and not stopping for a minute, not really a millionaire's lifestyle?(Which included leisure).
The fact that this person decided he would became a millionaire at the age of 14,wow,clever kid!
He should be proud of himself as it is.

Literally I don't think so, maybe we can say that you have earned your millions but you can not be considered a millionaire. For me, a millionaire have millions of money in banks and owns many properties.
Anyway, you are still young and if you really want to be one, you should put your mind and work hard to earn it. You must also learn to save some of your earnings, maybe with luck before you reach 40 you'd be one.

Yes, we shouldn't feel upset when the goals we made before aren't achieved on time.I guess it's really difficult to save money especially that every move we make,we make use of money.I hope you'll be in good financial state soon and achieve your goal at 40.Anyway, money doesn't matter much.A half million would do.Just enjoy your life and live it to the fullest.Pamper yourself with delicious and nutitrious food. Health is more important. What could you do with your millions if you became sick?Happy mylotting.

During my life, I have had times with little money and times with great affluency. At my age (67) and thinking about it, I think that money was not the most important thing in my life by far. Joy, love, happiness due to many causes, were more important. Probably, if my husband and I had never spent a dime enjoying, I would be rich. But I can still remember the wonderful weeks in the south of Spain when he was already very ill. Those memories are more important than the money we spent then.

taiwanlife good day! I do believe that you are already a millionaire and you will become a millionaire the way people think what a millionaire is. We all are a millionaire if we will not spend the money that we've earned but since we have to spend it in order to survive we can really tell that we aren't rich compared to other people. If you want to become a millionaire and you aren't a millionaire this time don't lose hope, make that situation of you an inspiration for you to work hard and to focus your goal. I believe that we are destined to be a prosperous one, we are destined to be blessed so we can be a blessings!

Typically, people's financial worth are measured by "net worth"... It's when you add everything up & calculate the worth, then minus all the debts & if what you have left with are more than a million, then technically, you are a millionaire... And I should add that when I said add everything up, I meant add everything that have "liquidatable assets"... Those might include, your house(s), privately owned business(es), lands, bonds & other bank notes that can be sold such as but not limited to stocks, golds & silvers, and finally how much cash you have in your bank account... Let's say you have 2 million dollar house & 300 thousand dollars in your bank account... But you still have mortgage... And you still owe 1 million 500 thousand dollars on your house... Your house & your bank account combind are worth more than a million dollars... But if you take out the debt, mortgage, your "net" worth is less than a million so in that case, you wouldn't. E a millionaire... The day you pay off your mortgage is the day you become millionaire...

I am similar to you , I want to be a millionaire one day still with it in the bank lol . The reality is you are already a millionaire just it was all spend on you . Imagine a person with children how much money they spend to provide for them for so many years . They are real millionaire also .
I guess we should hope to be a billionaire soon

Hi taiwanlife! You should never let go of that promise to yourself. Let it be your motivating factor to strive more. If we planned to reach our goal on a specified time and yet we were not able to, try to reconsider our previous actions. Where did we go wrong? What are we going to do to correct those mistakes? This way, we can set out a new plan and work for it. If you promise yourself that you will be a millionaire at forty, you have to stick to your plan and assess you actions from time to time. I know you can do it. Good luck!

Your money will be useless if you are not healthy. Instead of being able to enjoy your hard-earned cash, you will be spending time, money and effort in healthcare facilities. Not really a millionaire's kind of life. Now if you work hard, save a bit and enjoy whatever it is that you have by treating yourself once in a while is a good, if not an ideal, way of coming into terms with your job and your earnings and your life. Life isn't all about money-making. Don't get me wrong, I like money and the things it can buy like vacations for me and my family, education, good healthcare, etc. But our focus must not only be on the money alone per se.

Your friend has a great outlook on this matter! It's the type of advice that more people in the world need! Instead of looking at what you don't have at a given time, look back at all you've been able to experience. That's exciting. Money in the bank has never been a priority of mine but I do like to have nice things. And to look at finances in the same way as your friend, I can look around to see how "rich" I really am by being in a position to have things that I want!
