I changed my paypal email address

Since I don't know how to prevent that person (company) from taking money out of my paypal account for a subscription I changed my email address on my paypal account and canceled my other email addresses for it. I hope this will keep this company from taking $77 from me next year on a product (The Best Spinner) that I'm not using and haven't used except for about 2 months last year when I was managing a job.
My bank was no help because they said it was a subscription and paypal was no help because of the same reason. I have no idea how to cancel the subscription so I changed my email address on my bank account. I figure he won't have access then.
I have emailed the person twice and have not heard a thing from him. It's the address given on paypal as his contact email. He has ignored my emails to him. I've just written him again asking him to contact me so we can resolve this. I didn't know it was a subscription where he takes money every year. I thought if I wanted it I buy it and if I don't I don't... so I was floored when I found my money gone and there is no way I can fight this from what I can tell.
Paypal said they can't do anything.

Thank you! I cancelled my subscription but I know I won't get my money back. At least this won't happen again.

well that is great to know that you can cancel it, I wonder if there is a refund policy with that guy. I bet Kevin can help you with that one.

I found out through my bank that it's not fraud because it renews automatically each year on august 31. I didn't realize that. I thought it just expired but it doesn't. I found out how to cancel them on my paypal tonight. The money is gone and I can't get it back but he will never get another penny from me.

That sounds so frustrating. We had to cancel a bank account for a similar reason once.

hi pointlessquestions but surely your bank can do something about it? oh I see its in paypal and they cannot do anything. well changing your account should stop that I mean your email account''does he have your credit card number or debit card nu mb er as banks will change those for you to stop someone from taking
money out of your account.thats terrible for him not to make it clear you wou ld be charged 77 dollars every year, thats
outrageous

I think that was the best thing to do to avoid paying an item that you really do not want. By changing your email address will surely stop it.

Those are some hidden tactics from items online that you need to subscribe to. Just be more watchful next time in subscribing stuff online.

Yes. And I learned how to cancel from the responder above. I won't get my money back but at least he can't get any more money from me. I didn't even know it was an automatic renewal when I ordered it last year.

Wow, that's just awful :( Does the product have some sort of website you can go to and find out more about contact information? It seems weird that a company would have a product and not have some sort of website. If there isn't, there has to be someone who can help get the issue resolved and have the subscription cancelled. I also thought paypal would be more helpful, I know a few times when I got scammed on ebay they were quick to help out and get my money back.
I hope you're able to get it fixed somehow and I hope changing the email address will work and save you the money

It's probably just an email that sends out mass emails to customers or just simply sent as spam. Who knows, maybe it's not even a real person and it's just a computer automatically sending emails. If changing your paypal email address doesn't work, definitely go directly to the site to see if they have some sort of contact, hopefully something other than email.

You can delete your bank account given in the Paypal Account. Even better would be to delete your Paypal account and then open another one with a different Email ID.

I find it unusual that paypal says they can't do anything. Did you dispute the charge with paypal? They have a system for that and it usually works. I'm hoping that changing your email address will work but if they are charging your card using the numbers on your card it may not. Did you give them these numbers when you originally made the purchase?

Paypal said to email the merchant. That paypal couldn't do anything because it's a subscription. That's all I know. I think next year when he tries to get money from me he will not get to my paypal because he won't have the correct address. My paypal is connected to my bank account. I don't have a card hooked to it I don't think.

I had a similar situation with what you have but it was on my credit card. I had bought a food supplement online and I was delivered monthly with the produce with the corresponding charge to my credit card. I called the bank but I was told that they could not stop charging immediately I still have to call the company which sold the product to me. I likewise called the company only to be told that I have to wait 2 or 3 months. So what I did was request for the cancellation of my credit card. Then I received email for failure to deliver because of no payment.

That is glad to know that you were able to change your paypal email. At least you can no longer be deducted of unwanted subscription. I am also hope this idea would help. There are also times I am contemplating on matters like this. Thank you for giving me this idea.

Thats ridiculous, and they hide that fact as well. Its annoying when they dont stand up and respond to you instead ignoring them. Im shocking that Paypal didnt do anything for you though. I hope it gets resolved and it doesnt come back to bite.

I learned how to cancel the subscription. I never knew it was renewed automatically each year. So anyway paypal said they had the right to take the money cause it was a subscription. That does it for me. I'm not buying anything to download into my computer again.

Hi friend, sorry to hear about this, we must be very careful while buying or subscribing a thing from online, most of the sellers are very smart and sell their things in this kind of subscription manner and take our money from our payment processor in monthly basis without our knowledge, if we once bought this kind of products, we are in need to pay the subscription even though we are interested in cancelling the offer, finally you changed your email, hope it will help you
