do you always hear that Jakarta is always happening fire...
The fire department always said mostly of the cause of fire in jakarta is short circuit..
and short circuit is related with the poor and sometimes illegal installation of electric in every home..
Why the people can live with the poor and illegal electric instalation? don`t they know that it`s very unsafe for their life??
Team of PLN in tambora get something surprised...
many of the home is installed with poorly and illegal electric installation...
But the people said their electric installation is installed by PLN officer...
So how the civil people can describe which one is the true of PLN officer and the fake of PLN Officer??
electric problem is one of the big problem in every area of our country...
The illegal and poor electric installation is one of the problem related with PLN..

Well, this also happens in my neighborhood. I am aware that most of my neighbors use this kind of practice in their homes. Well, there are many concerns about it. First, as you suggest, is about the safety, and they do not seem to realize that the neighborhood is so closely packed that if one catches fire, it will certainly burn the others as well. :( The second and most annoying part is that due to this, the electricity voltage has been quite unstable at my place. I registered for 230 Volts, and it may even go down to 140 Volts! This is unfair as the fare for 230 is higher as compared to 140 and that I am afraid that my electrical appliances will be ruined. :( Some of the neighbors including myself had already made a complaint to PLN, but no response until now. I regret it :(

Sadly yes, that's what most Indonesian citizens say nowadays, that it is absurd to expect something good from Indonesia now. I may be naive, but I still hope that Indonesia will turn to be better someday. Perhaps Jakarta's election result is a beginning to that. Just my opinion though ;)

Well, my neighbor have illegal installation and that has been offered and installed by PLN Officer himself. But then after a while the same PLN Officer who told PLN that my neighbor have installed illegal installation of electricity and my neighbor have to pay a fine (denda). What an awesome way to trap and make even more money, huh? Even the PLN Officer themselves trying to make money with that. Offer an illegal installation first and then charge the offender with a fine to make much more money...

they can report it to Ombudsman, a state board which are responsible for the public service.
as long as your neigbourhood have a clearly data and address, had complained about the PLN service to their office and have a strong evidence....Ombudsman will accept your neigbhourhood report..don`t worry..

Cost of electricity is high and a lot of people try to cut that cost, even richer people. Worst of it, some unscrupulous (oknum) officers in PLN want to help such thing (with money in return, of course).

of course..once again, our systems is poor, our officer mental too is poor..
maybe bureaucratic management of electrical installation is cut so it can reduced the fee of cost electricity installation..
right??
