hi guys.
im in trouble. there is a friend that told me about a company that pays us to work as transcribers. the sir contacted me but he said he can only contract me if my paypal account is verified. i have a bank account number to where i already sent the money i received from mylot so it means my bank account is verified in paypal. but it says unverified bcs i dont have a credit or debit card. that way i cant be hired for this job. what would you do in my place? i thought about asking a friend to lend me his credit card number but i dont know. it was just to verify my account not to use it cause they dont ask the code even i guess.
what would you guys do? would you ask a friend? i think i will cause i really need this job.

hello Kat,
Kindly read the response from Paypal representative.
This will surely gives you a better understanding about using other people's card
Hello _____________ my name is Janette from PayPal Customer Service.
I hope everything is well with you today. I understand how important it is for you to be able to claim the funds from your PayPal account. Let me help you. In order to protect our customers against potential fraud, we verify the accuracy of the information you provide in regards to adding a bank account to your PayPal account. To successfully add or withdraw funds to or from your PayPal account balance, the name on your PayPal account must exactly match the name your bank has on file.
If you are adding a bank account to your PayPal account, the bank account will be listed in the name that is entered on the PayPal account. If the bank account belongs to another individual, you should not be adding it to your PayPal account. If these names are not the same, the transfer may fail. Please note that if your bank account information is not accurate and you attempt a withdrawal from your PayPal account, the withdrawal may fail. The funds will be returned to your PayPal account and you may incur a fee.
You want to consider contacting your bank to see if they offer a Visa debit card that can be linked to your daughter local bank account. You can definitely add a debit card as long as it has a Visa logo and use it to withdraw funds.
Alternatively, you may want to check out Union Bank's EON card. This may be used to withdraw funds from your PayPal account and fund your payments since it has a Visa logo.
I hope that this may help you with your query.
Asking a friend to use his/her credit/debit card won't work either.

thanks j. i already have a comfirmed bank account. i sent the money i received from mylot to the bank. the problem is that in this company they need to have my paypal account verified. and paypal just puts it verified only if i add a credit or debit card number. they dont do that with bank accounts what i think is very unfair. like this this company wont contract me to work for them. cause they say my paypal account has to be verified to accept me

i thnk this is really a very tricky question... And is a hard one too.
If i was the person i would have really thought about it before agreeing to lend my credit card... And quite a bit hesitant too to borrow a card from a friend whom i know is not really close with me.
also i think you have got to use a credit card of your own in verifying paypal account right? I think when i verified mine i used creditcard and i have seen that there are fields tat will be matched with your personal information.

I think for credit card you have to have certain amount of balance in the bank but for debit card you don't need and prerequisites. I would say better go for debit card. I don't have credit card and i verified my paypay account with the debit card. it is the best. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

I think for verifying your paypal account the Debit or Credit card should be in your own name.
You should not get it verified using anyone friend's credit card. Please check with paypal authorities.

hey sweet, you don't need to borrow anyone's card ... since you have a bank account, just go to the bank and tell them you want a debit card. it is the best option. Using others debit card or credit card I think is not safe. It is not hard to get a debit card. I don't have credit card but I do have debit card and I get the online payment on my paypal account.
Tell me why did you not consider getting your own debit card in the first place????????????????

Riya - Your suggestion is quite practical and worthy of getting the paypal account verified.
@sweet - everything comes at a price, therefore, if you are required to pay some annual charges for a debit card, you should get one.

Personally I will not recommend you take info or credit card number from your friend to add it with your paypal account. As it may sour your friendship if you got it hacked or sacked unfortunately.
Plus you can add a debit card that must be available with your savings account without any fees.
And if it does not come with your existing account you can apply for a debit card account with your bank.
That would not need more $50 as the deposits as I assume in any part of the world.
Just try harder to get a debit card, try other banks which can provide you a debit card account.
Best of Luck!

If that would work instead of having a paypal account that would be great.

If you can fund your PayPal account from your bank account (which you should be able to do, since you have verified your bank account with PayPal in order to withdraw funds), then I do not see why your account is still 'unverified'.
According to the information on the PayPal website here: http://www.paypal.com/ke/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-approved-signup-countries-outside Portugal is listed as a country where you CANNOT withdraw to a credit or debit card, only to a local (or a US) bank account.
I also do not understand why someone claims that he cannot pay you unless your account is 'verified'. Usually that only applies when you are asked to make a payment. You can receive payments whether an account is verified or not. It has absolutely NO effect on the security of the person paying you. If the company is asking for money in order to give you work, then I would VERY STRONGLY advise you to walk away fast. NO company which has legitimate work to provide needs to (or should) ask you to PAY for their services!
It would be a very bad idea to use a friend's credit card to verify your PayPal account (and would probably lead to your account being limited or worse). When you add a card to an account, the name and address in PayPal and on the card have to match. You also have to have access to the credit/debit card account in order to know the code that PayPal send for verification. Trying to use a friend's credit card would almost certainly fail because the name on the card and the billing address would not be the same as yours.

Sounds like something that would happen to me First, I would go into my account and start the verification processs. Then call the toll free number for pay pal and explain to them and ask them to verify it as quick as possible.Does that person that you are going to work for, does he know yet that there is a mix up?I wouldn't tell him.In a couple of days it should be done.
Good luck

Even if you are willing to leand your credit card to your friend to verify his paypal account. It will not work for him anyway. Because the credit card information is yours rather than your friends. Namely paypal's name is from your friend and paypal will not accept a credit card with another person's name.

You cannot lend a card to anyone to verify paypal account because your name at paypal must be your credit card name as well, I am not 100% sure but this happened to me last time, am so desperate to verify my account, but until now I cannot withdraw my $30 dollars there, so when my credit application was approved, I registered for a new paypal again and I forget about my $30 dollars on my other account! Anyway, you can have the virtual credit or debit card to verify the accounts, it will cost your friend few dollars I guess or she better apply for a credit card.

I know what you are going through because I am from a country that I am not able to used my bank account nor the local debit card . There or other banks in my home country that I can used to get master or visa card . When I return home that is what ill do . You need to visit a bank in your country and see if the offer those kinda cards and you could also used a prepaid debit card . A lot of people used that to verified their paypal .
I dont think you can used a friend card to verified your account . Get a Prepaid credit card online or locally if you can . The other option is to get a major debit card . I have a debit card but its not visa or master ill have to get another bank account and change that .

Hi Sweet,
You may please visit your local bank where you are holding the account and explain your concern to the banker and find out what all are the formalities and charges they require for it. It depend on banks, country and various other aspects with regard to the charges.
For me, here I am using a visa gold card for 15 years more and I have paid '0' charges for it. It is absolutely free of cost and I can maintain a '0' balance in my account.
So, as a basic step and for your knwledge clarification, you can visit your bank branch for once and get the feedback from them. If there are charges and if it comes under your sustinable limit, you can apply for a DEBIT Card (not credit card) and you can use it for your life long use.
Best of luck

I understand your problem but don't have a solution. My concern is that if the company you need this for uses your friend's credit card info with paypal to check your account your name will not be on it. This may cause problems for you with paypal. Unless your friend adds your name to their credit card. That would be a nice favor! I really hope you solve this problem. I know you've said several times that the company is legit but I can't understand why they don't just hire you. You're not paying them so there should be no problem. Good luck.

Hi sweet using a debit card is also using your own money since it is linked to your bank account. If your bank account has an ATM card and it has a Visa logo in it then it qualifies as a debit card. Try to register it and see if it works for you.
