The good with the bad

"You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have, The Facts of Life." Do you dwell more on the bad or the good? It seems like every since my husband broke his knee/leg things have been going down hill. We had to sell our home and now we're living with family. I'm having health issues that limit me from working. I like to look at things positively, but when you've run into a stream of bad luck, it's kind of hard to look at the positive. What do you do to uplift your life when you think that if it weren't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all?

I am sorry that you are going through a bad time. This year has been just awful for my family. I am widowed for some years and now have had two open heart surgeries that have put my children into such debt. I have been away from home living in the U.K. for six months now and both of my sisters are not in good health. My children have problems and I do go back home next week to face even more problems. We just have to get through it all but it is hard. You do have a husband though with whom to share the burden. What I would give just to give my husband a hug again. I do hope that things look up for you soon. Keep strong

A united family can get through bad times and emerge stronger. Night night, sleep tight, and don't let your big toes fight.
Time for this old lady to try and sleep

Thanks cynthiann, for your words of encouragement! I guess when we're down on our luck, it's then that we appreciate the good things that happen. We pick ourselves up by the belt loop and keep on going!

Not sure Jodee. Here is part of the good, you found us. There are other places where we meet and converse online, and sometimes earn for it, but MyLot is the best. Is there a chance your health will improve? I hope so. How about hubby, will his leg eventually heal? I hope you keep on finding some positive things in your life.

Thanks GardenGerty! My issues limit me to work, having hearing loss and arthritis in my back. My husband has use of his leg/knee, but limited. He also lost/stolen his I.D and his only living parent won't help him to get a duplicate. On the bright side though, I've reached the level where I can add emotions!!

The missing ID sounds like a serious issue to me. I have helped people with this issue before. He can get a birth certificate from the state where he was born, if he can provide enough details. It costs a little bit. If he has driven in the past he should be on record with the DMV if he knows his SS#. I hope you guys can get some help going on. I know, like me, you are not old enough to draw Social Security, so you have to do what you can, where you can. Look up Textbroker.com for some freelance writing. I do not get anything for recommending you do it.

Thanks for the help! Yes, the problem is he doesn't have any I.D. to prove who he is. I pinched him, and "we" know he's real! No,we're not at the age for Social Security, but was trying for Disability and without money to go to doctors I was denied and I know my body and what I can and cannot do.

Hi there dear friend. I guess everyone comes across such a situation like yours and I know that it may be really difficult to see things in a different light. But you have to. Even if it means like you're doing some wishful thinking, you just have to think positively amidst all your problems. Just stay strong. You count your blessings. That's what my friend once told me. Try to count 10 blessings a day and I know it might not really get you out of your situation that instantly, but it could give you a certain kind of uplifting when you need it most. For me, prayer also works. I'm not a religious person, and I know it might even sound hypocritical to be praying when in times of need, but it helps me in a way. It's like voicing out what all your troubles in a silent way to someone who would just listen. Sometimes, I have my own means of escape, which are usually watching a good movie or reading a good book. Just find what it is that makes you the slightest happier every time you do it.
As they say, when all you have are positive thoughts and words, then positive energy will be attracted to you. Just trust and believe in yourself. We're here and don't give up.

Very true! Even though we think everything is bad, we must realize that there is good that we must concentrate on. When we can see good in every situation we can then move forward. Every day we wake up to a new day, is a blessing and we must see that we are able to do things for ourselves as a blessing. I pray every night and every morning and when I'm struggling through the day I pray. I pray that God has blessed us with a new day and seek him to find ways to handle what we're going through.

It sounds difficult but I tried, when everything that is happening around me is bad and I can go no where I looked up above to see the wonders of God's greatest plan for my life. It's easy to thank God if everything seems good, it's easy to say that He's plan for me is good but what if all that is happening to you is bad? is it easy to say it's okay? the typical answer would be no., and yes it's not. But, I had learned to think more positively when the situation is getting worst it's only through this that I can lift up my heart, mind and soul.

Oh, for sure BethelSophia, even though my husband and I are going through some trying times, we both have our faith that this too shall pass. And that every day is a new beginning.

I wish you good luck. I will keep you in my thoughts. I hope that you don't dwell to much in the bad. I have found myself getting heartbroken over some of the bad. I have learned to gain strength from living in the itty bitty bits of good. I have my daughters smiles to keep me going. I have lots of bad to dwell on but I handle it when I have to. Otherwise I try not to think of it becasue it is life that is going on right now. When my daughter is napping or on her own project I myLot. Otherwise I enjoy her crazy bits of life and laugh. I hope you find your good bits and pieces them together to make yourself laugh! Happy myLotting! Thanks for being my myLot friend too!

Thank-you tangleddreams for the support! I know when the grand kids are around, life seems so much simpler through their eyes, if only we could live our lives without a worry like a child! Embrace your babies, and all your worries seem so trivial.

Hi Jodee, Don't think that you were in bad luck but always think the positive way. Not only you were struggling but we also encounter so much bad luck in life but through that makes us stronger. All you need to do is relax/calm down your mind in thinking too much to avoid stress and always be patience. About your husband, you can help him by giving him a support. Always remember "in every difficulty lies opportunity" and I hope through this site - myLot will help you. Always SMILE, coz you don't own the problems in the world.. :)

Things happen when we less expected, that is why some saying goes "Live with it" I don't know about your finances, but I guess that is also not very good either since you cannot work outside your home, you can do online work, it may help a bit rather than no at all, I wish your health will get better, and if when you are bad in luck who weren't the same as you? I am also having emotional problems that causing me unable to work fulltime, and so I do part time job at home.

There are bad days and there are good days, and I agree with you, take them both as they are and what you have are the facts of life. At times of bad days, I think of the good days, and at times of good days, I just try to enjoy it the most that i can. When luck is out and all odds are against you, then the only thing to do is hope and pray for good days to come as it will surely will.

Hi, don't be sad. all will be all right. The only thing we have is hope and if you lose that also than there will be no hope also. With hope things can go better. Be positive. I know it is hard to be positive when you are in such situation but then you have to do it. you have to let go and think positive. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.
