I have installed ubuntu as a back-up or a mirror OS of my Windows 7. As what ubuntu PR people have advertised that their ubuntu 12.04 is way faster than the windows product is all but hype and hot air. After downloading ubuntu 12.04 fast installation and tried it for a couple of months now most grueling is when their system updates. I have just wated more than an hour today waiting for all the updates to complete. I decided to wait and complete their updates hoping that it will correct the errors and difficulties of this product. I was more disappointed. I got slower than before the update.

welcome to mylot. the best option is to stop updating. it takes a lot of time means it will affect our work and mood. can you choose no to update?

That's what I was doing before. Not updating. Ubuntu had been slow since I've installed it. That was even before I allowed the updates. So much for the hype, that it is much better than other operating systems. Good job for ubuntu's pr people.
