I don't drink milk to be honest, my doctor keeps nagging me. But I get very phlegmy after, and my stomach just turns. So I drink very little of it, I found Almond Milk and my doctor had mentioned this. It was $4.99 for a jug (can;t remember the exact size not the skinny size 1L but the next size up). I bought it just to proove my doctor weong. Ive been drinking it almost everyday. I just made a milkshake, and downing it. I started thinking what is in regular milk that isnt in almond milk?

Lactose... it sounds like me, and I'm allergic to milk - I can digest it, but my stomach doesn't like it and it makes me congested. I can handle milk in other forms, like ice cream and milk shakes and cheese, but straight milk, even chocolate milk and egg nog bother me.

I get diarrhea from it as well, its more a hassle to drink it. But this Almond Milk I have been fine with so I may be buying it more often.

The roomie didn't like the taste of the almond milk, but doesn't have a problem with the unflavored/unsweetened soy milk. Its just been so long since I've even desired plain milk that I have no desire to try them. I do cook with milk.

Hi guys :) Perhaps if you are lactose intolerant, you could try other milk-derived products such as yogurt or kefir. The lactose there are broken down by the culture which fermented it into simple sugars, so you will not suffer from diarrhea and other lactose-intolerant symptoms. They also contain higher amount of calcium and other healthy fermentation products ;)

I think that regular milk it just the normal plain milk. well i think if the doctor is nagging on you to drink milk then you must. I am a milk lover and drink lots of milk and now become fat..lol so now i want to hate milk so that i don't drink it.... Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

I do like cows milk and it does agree with me but I would rather have the other milks. As I have experimented and learned about vegetarianism I have learn that there are many different kinds of drinks that are considered milk. Almond and soy are just a couple of them. There fruit milks with protein. And there are milks made from several nut not just Almonds. I have made Cashew milk but don't really care for it. Almond Milk comes in different flavors too such as Chocolate, Original, Vanilla, Unsweetened Chocolate, Unsweetened Original, I like the vanilla or chocolate best. I have not tried most of these. - Hazelnut Milk - Multigrain MilkVegan and Vegetarian Soy Milk - Oat Milk (Organic Original, Organic Vanilla)I tried this but didn't ca re for it either. - Rice Milk (Plain, Vanilla)They claim this is good sub for cooking. - Soy Milk (Select Plain, Select Vanilla, Unsweetened Original, Ultra Soy Plain, Ultra Soy Original) These are all plant based as milk is from animals such as cows or goats. You get what ever a cow or goat eats. These milks were really not meant for human consumption.

Regular milk comes from cows and is filled with hormones and such. These and some of the proteins in dairy products are the reason that there are many people that are allergic to regular milk. Soy, almond and coconut milk are not made from an animal product and therefore they don't have the same proteins in them as cow's milk and they are also devoid of the hormones that can cause some people to have problems with digesting it.

Most probably lactose or some other protein that is in the milk. Since you mentioned that you are not lactose intolerant, it is probably some other protein. Do you have the same problem when you eat meat?

Found the following article that describes your condition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_allergy Looks like it is difficult to detect this kind of allergy.

I don't know the answer to that question, but as far as the phlegm goes, I do know milk is supposed to make you very phlegmy. I learned that from my sergeants at the academy I went to right before I enlisted in the army. But I would assume almond milk would be healthier than regular milk. Or at least easier on your stomach. But I don't know what exactly the differences are.

Also, I do not drink milk that often at all either. I have numerous stress fractures from my lack of calcium and intense physical activity. I do take calcium gummies at least every other day, if not every day sometimes, and that has durastically helped me. I take the gummies instead of the pills because I don't particularly like taking pills. haha

its an animal byproduct and it probably has more fat content than the almond milk

Uh... almond milk is made from almonds, it's not milk at all.

It's Pasteurized (most the time) and it has lactose. I buy Organic DHA and Omega 3 milk. It's expensive but good. I've not had regular milk in atleast a year or two. When I'm getting coffee somewhere I get whole milk though so I suppose I HAVE had it.. I'm not sure what's causing the phlegm, but I know I didn't like almond milk. My nephew, who is lactose intolerant, loved it though...

I would be changing doctors if I were you. No doctor should be nagging you to drink milk, which is something that many people have problems with. It is not the be all and end all source of calcium as it is so often made out to be (thanks to the dairy industry). There are numerous good sources of calcium, and one can go through life completely dairy-free--many people do. I drink milk, because I like it. However, I don't view it as a necessary part of my diet. I eat a wide variety of foods--many, such as leafy greens, that contain plenty of calcium (as well as other nutrients).

If you are allergic to milk or have an intolerance towards it then it seems like a sign that your body doesn't need it. I do drink milk sometimes, but I get phlegmy to, so it would be better to leave it out. I have read studies that despite what we were taught, milk actually removes calcium from body. With all the hormons and antibiotics the cows were treated with, I think it causes more harm than good. Almonds are healthy, I love almond milk but unfortunately it's not available here so I rarely get the chance to drink it.

something you feel angry if the doctors said probihited to drink or eat like this food or drinks, especially this food or drinks is your favorite, but many peoples need to drink milk for the different purpose and different brand. litte bit i drink milk (alaska) any brand.
