This therapy or treatment sounds gross, gnarly and creepy but I think its a treatment proven to cure certain ailments since Ancient Egypt. I just tried this in a clinic for cure of a certain problem I wont tell you but after the treatment, yeah it is disgusting but days later after I let those little creatures feast on my blood, I felt euphoric, I dont have problems in my joints but my joints felt good. I felt energized/ Its hard to explain but you can see some video in youtube on how its done...
I think the leeches doctor used are sterilized from infections. I am sure most of you people wont have the courage to try this treatment because indeed leeches looks gross, they remind me of worms. I didn't feel any pain though when those suckers tried to feeding on my blood.
During my time at the clinic, there is this patient who panicked and run out of the building for being so scared.

Where did you have your treatment done? My mom occasionally suffers from rheumatism, perhaps this will work for her. I don't like leeches myself.Whenever I see one I immediately put rock salt on its body and it would shrink right away. You're right sometimes traditional cure works. I've also heard the lizards can be used to treat chronic asthma ewww! gross.

Despite the appearance the leeches are very clean creatures. And the terapy helps, they remove bad blood and clean meridians and many other things.

Yeah it is creepy indeed that you can see worms crawling on you wound. I saw like this one only on TV only. Where did you have that treatment on. I thought this is done abroad and not yet in my place.
Those practitioners of this kind of theraphy believe that these kinds of leeches do secrete some kind of enzyme that could help wounds heal faster and acts as antibacterial if there is some kind of an infection. So while you are giving them the blood they give you their saliva.

yes I got mine in abroad, that why I am not in mylot in the last few days. Their saliva releases enzymes that eases pain and makes the patient feels good. A person is only allowed to to this therapy once in 6 months.

This [practice is there in India too in some tribal medication. It is supposed to be very effective since it has absolutely no after effects and your system goes in for infusing more fresh blood into the system..I know how it feels to be bitten by a leech since I have had the experience when I went to the western ghats during monsoon and the place is infested with them...all the best and enjoy your evening

Well leech therapy is a natural way, but its animal instead of herbal. The next best thing to leeches will be donating your blood to the red cross, yes donating blood is good for the body.

While I am not queasy about seeing my own blood, I'm not just a big fan of slimy, crawly and slippery creaturs especially one which closely resemble worms or snakes lol! But if I have no other cheaper and effective alternative for getting some treatments, there's a chance that I might go for it. I have seen on documentaries about patients getting this kind of treatment and it doesn't look that gross at all. But still, a leech is a leech for me lol!

Its mind over mater I guess, I think people who resorted to this prefers comfort over pain. no matter how gross they were, the comfort they will provide is long term. Well there is an alternative to leeches, if you will donate blood for people who needs it, it has the similar effect.

guess what, Peta condemns this.... they really want to worship all animals dont they. they thing this is a violation of animal rights. so they were fighting for leech rights as well.

I think its being used for cosmetic purposes as well, Demi moore said leeches are one of the reason she still looked young. Its currently a craze in Europe right now. I didnt dare looking at them while the doctor are applying.

I would do this in a heartbeat if it needed to be done. Sure it's gross and creepy but I know they use this in the treatment of flesh-eating disease too. I think it's awesome and I like the thought that you're not taking all those pills which hurt you in the long run.
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and sometimes the old ways are the best. Hope you keep feeling good.

By far leeches saved a diabetic from having his leg amputated, they were also said to cure eczema and arthritis. The doctor said the effect will be from 6 to 12 months. I never expected I will do this treatment at all, I am just invited by a friend. The leeche didnt leave any wounds or scars on me.

You know I did hear about them being used for diabetic's too..I forgot about that. I didn't know about the eczema or arthritis..interesting.
That is super great if the effect is that long..good for you. I'm glad to hear you did this treatment and give your friend a big hug! I wouldn't think they would leave any scars or wounds...they only do good for people.

hi CaptAlbertWhisker I have not had the leech therapy but while I was in the hospital with a broken shoulder and surgery to
put in a bionic shoulder joint, my roommate had a deep infection in her arm and the lady would come in each morning with her leeches to have them eat the blood and infection .she told me her arm was slowly healing since they started the leech therapy.so I guess it really does work. She told me the leech did not cause her any
pain. She was sort of interested in this therapy as its so ancient.

is it silly that I did this for cosmetic purposes, i did feel good though, My joints never felt so good, i dont have bone problems but I felt improvements in my health. But still a balanced diet and active lifestyle will make me healthier for sure. i do believe my lifestyle is healthy but I for sure wants to expand my horizons. I think diabetes also uses this therapy to improve their blood circulation and heal wounds.

Demi Moore said this is what keeps her young..... Most people who tried this I think are people with problem on their joints and people with infection. But yeah its becoming cosmetic now.

Hiya captain
The people who would say NO I wont ever try this might not have ever got to suffer as much as the people who did go to cure themselves. I know this is creepy and maybe even gross but then, when you are so ill and you feel you must get cured, there might be no other alternate,
I would try it if such a thing existed here in my country... maybe I would ask to be taken blindfolded and remain blindfolded until the doctors are done...
Was it for Rheumatoid Athritis?

I hate leeches because of its disgusting. As a child I used to play in the fields and there is often a leech bite my leg, I did not even dare to touch to release it from my leg. I was very amused and disgusted to see its shape is like rubber. I would never dare to take medication / leech therapy.
