Vandalism

For a seniors residence this place is not all the secure. Two nights ago apparently two nuts in the building around 40 years old, took the wooden rockers and threw them across the drive way in order to break them. I don't know these guys but the police was called and they denied it even though there was an eye witness to the event. It appears to me that these guys don't like the fact that elderly like to talk and socialize outside. any thoughts?

This is just another sign of the times. There is no respect for people or things. Younger people have no idea of what it's like to even talk to older people because families are so shattered. Kids grow up without ever having a real conversation with an adult. Even if they have to pay for what they did, they don't get it. It doesn't make sense to them that they should respect anyone or anything.

Shoot them. Not with bullets, but with tasers.

Sounds like if at all possible they need to screen their tenants and also step up security. Either that or tie everything down. That is just so sad that people enjoy destroying things like that. I hope they get in a lot of trouble.

the trouble is the guys have to be living with a senior and the city cannot spite the senior for what they do. I hope they pay a fine or something.

How did they get into the building? Were they visiting? Or did they just walk in? I don't understand why this would bother them if they don't live there. And if there was an eye witness, then they should be charged of course. Sounds like there might be more to this than what meets the eye.

They live in the building and then destroyed part of where they live? They sound like very nasty guys and at that age and need a good kick in the pants. Terrible and I hope they evict them so good riddence. No one should have to live like that and be afraid to walk out the door. I hope this works out for you and all the other residents...I know if it was me my daughters would be after the owner to do something very quickly about the situation. Take care and be careful.

I would think that in a residence for seniors there would be security cameras in the halls, by the entrances, and in the driveways and walkways not only for security but also for safety as someone could fall and injure themselves and these types of injuries can be far more serious for seniors. The cameras would also help to discourage vandalism, because then the vandals would be caught on tape, and there would be no question of guilt, even without an eye witness.

It should be that way but they don't have security outside unfortunately. Perhaps this is the first time anything like this has happened, I don't know.

Sounds like a couple of 40 year olds still have a bit of growing up to do. Stupid thing to do. Hopefully the police did enough to discourage them from doing it again.

Honestly, Winter, I think that you give them too much credit for actually thinking. I don't think they even thought that deeply into what they were doing...they probably just felt like being destructive and that is what they did. You could be right...who knows?? 40 yrs old sounds a bit old for that sort of behavior. I just can't really wrap my head around that kind of stuff or understand what would cause anyone to do such a thing...where is the gain?

40 years old means they did know what they are doing it is a statement that they don;t like to see old people sitting around in front of the building, if they were 17 that would be more like what you are thinking, but at 40 this is a statement. They are not mentally disturbed, nor teenagers acting out they are just mean and miserable people who don't like to see other people happy. It is not convenient for them to see the old people and since they cannot get them out of the people this is their revenge.

Yep, your explanation does make more sense. I just can't understand such anger. And the thing is, it won't be long before they are the older people. Bad karma could come right back to bite them...usually does.

I hope the manager of the building took care of it. They shoud be sited or evicted or something. Damaging property just for horse play needs to be addressed seriously. If they let them get away with it it will just continue and could become dangerous. They are as bad as hoodlem teenagers!

I remember the seniors complex I worked at while in college, they all had keypads, and codes. They had tight security, and cameras everywhere. I can' believe people now a days could do this, and think they can get away with it. I hope they got fined for their behaviour.

the cameras are inside the building but not outside unfortunately, anyhow there was a witness and I don't know yet if they were fined or not. The witness said she is going to take it to a higher authority.

Every individual has a right to talk and socialize outside of their house. Hence, it is not proper to throw a wooden rocker to a certain group of person just because they were talking and socializing outside of their house. Unless otherwise, the topic was that guy(who threw a wooden rocker.)?

yes it is that guy who through the rocker is wrong, the old people have a ride to sit there, the tables and rockers were made for them to do that.
