Hi just heard that prisoners soon to be released from British prisons will be given the chance to work in high street restaurants run by the prison service. Would you like to have your meal produced and served by prisoners.

Why would it bother anyone if they have been properly trained and have served their time? As long as the restaurants are kept up to scratch then what is the problem? The prisoners are deemed to have served their debt t society and have now entered the world outside of the prison. Don't you think that they should be given and are worthy of a second chance? I wish them well

Many young men are caught up in criminal activity and a lot of them see the error of their ways. Glad your man was one Hatley but from what I've read from you he had a good woman by his side.

Hi... It is not a bad idea... I would also add that they should make sure that the prisoners are civilized and trained to be civilians... After spending years in jail, there is huge possibility that the prisoner might develop some psychlogical thing.. I've read about serial killers extensively... Most of those had 'done time'.. Of course they had had bad childhood and other psychologically effective things... There are cases, on the other hand, where people led a better life after being released from jail... Some of them became social workers too... All I want to say is, they should make sure that they're employing the right guys... :-)

The right guys, hey there ex-criminals, they have learnt to be crafty and devious. It's always risky allowing others to prepare your food, I just think this is a risk that is not for me.

Those people deserves a second chance. If the government will give them such opportunity, for sure the supervisors are also military trained to keep an eye. The government won't risk the innocent civilian by giving the ex-jail people a chance to have a better life.

British prisons do not employ just ex-military personnel. Wonder who they might use as tasters to make sure the food is of edible standard.

I don't care a bit.I think most of the prisoners who are released can't commit a crime again, because the lesson has sunk in during they were put behind bars.Everyone is bound to help them begin their lives anew.

Most ex-prisoners in Britain re-offend. This may be due to the fact that it is difficult to get employment and this could be a way to get the re-offending down if it works.

This is a good idea. I encourages criminals to get work and also gives them a second chance as well as options so they don't re-offend. so many prisoners end up jut re-offending due to it being hard to get a job and reintegrate with the rest of society because no one trusts them. Plus if its run by the prison service that means the prisoners and ex prisoners are contributing to their own upkeep and so less of our taxes are going into keeping them in prison and the money can be spent on other important things such as the NHS and education system.

Would it be I wonder that people do not trust them because they have wronged society once or to get put in a British prison, many times previously. Just say that you had a company and you needed an employee would your first choice be a proven thief who has served their time.

Sorry I just thief as an example and to come clean my youngest grandson was diagnosed with ADHD he is now nine and has been diagnosed as being in the autistic spectrum and probably aspergers this as meant that he has been violent in the past. This worries me when it comes to getting a job and I fear that he may turn to crime, congratulations on getting the pencil.

I understand why people don't trust criminals, they are obviously where they are for a reason. But at the same time your assuming that every criminal is a thief. There are many reasons why people end up in prison. I have a cousin who ending up in prison because he had a mental disorder that went un-diagnosed, so should he not get a chance because of that? Or even people who made mistakes and just want to get on with life after serving their time. Why should they be robbed of that change and more importantly if they are not working what are they doing instead? claiming benefits? stealing from shops? breaking into your home? I would hire a criminal but if i'm honest it would depend on the crime heavily. For instance i wouldn't have it in me to hire someone convicted of a S3X crime.

No problem at all, it won't matter a bit whether the food is provided and serve by ex-prisoners, after they paid their dues to the society. What's more concerning to me is that the food is delicious and tasty and the service is provided with courtesy and civilly. Every man that serve his time for his crime and pay his dues back to the society, he is entitled to work in any industry and live his life like everyone else again, he shouldn't be prevented from working a decent job and earn a living for himself and his family. He has earn back his rights to be a productive member of the society and should be treated with respect by customers just like every one else.

I am keen on giving an ex-prisoner a fair chance but not with my food. Just going to the john without washing hands is one example.

Why not? There are many different kind of reasons why you can go to prison, it's even possible if you are innocent. This besides of the fact that if you had your punishment you should be able to start living, make a living, so the society don't need to pay for them anymore. BTW: you never know who is cooking or serving your meal. Might be a killer, rapist, someone with herpes etc. Also there are plenty of "normal" people who don't care spitting on your food.

Must agree with most of what you say except giving someone who has or may have been antisocial in one way or another the chance to tamper with your food is surely another. The chance to make you ill is just too great.

Why not? I will be very curious to try their cuisine. Who knew they could serve food that is equivalent to a five star restaurant? By visiting their restaurants can also be a moral and social support to them that the society always give a chance to them who want to change and live life on the straight path.

Hi friend, good to hear about this, there is nothing wrong in taking food from a prisoner restaurants, not all the prisoners are bad persons, they are also human being and we must give importance to them. We must give a chance to them to realize their mistakes and change their faults

All we need now is to make some jobs for those who have not committed a crime.
