I do not like when strangers ask me to use my laptop or anything else! I find it very rude when your trying to get work done and you have people who will most likely steal from you when your back is turned! Those who do needs to leave those they want to harass and bother for anything need to stop! I never ask strangers or anything! Respect everyone who comes to the library and do ask anyone to charge your phone with their phone chargers when you have your own to use! Would you unplug your phone to let total strangers steal from you?

I can't say that I blame you. Maybe if it were fifteen, twenty years ago, I wouldn't have been as skeptical but now there's a scammer born every minute. I know that sounds harsh, negative and critical but it is also a reality. I try to be a compassionate and caring person, helping out my neighbor but sometimes there's a hidden price tag.
I've witnessed all kinds of identity theft and can say that you have every right to say no. I believe you have to look after your well-being first and technology has only hurt us as generous human beings.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't lend someone my laptop or phone charger. It is not nice that we live in a world like this, but it is reality. I don't think it's polite to ask people, either.

I never lend my things out to other people because I am afraid that things may get broken. I would never ask anyone if I can borrow their items either. I never use my cell phone inside the library and I never allow anyone to use my charger to charge their phone. Only once did I allow someone to use my cell phone. It was an elderly man who needed to call 911 because his wife's blood sugars were very low and she was going into a diabetic shock. I had a piece of candy and the operator told the husband to give her candy to get her sugars up. I was so glad that I had a piece of hard candy in my purse to give to her.

My husband and I don't even borrow each other's laptops, lol! For us it is a personal property and besides, his laptop is wired differently than mine depending on our own personal needs and the work that we do, so we find it hard for each one of us to use the laptop of another. Of course if it's just a simple browsing need or checking of emails that's no problem, but as in really borrow? Nah!
I am also not fond of letting complete strangers use my stuff because I don't even know if they're already messing up with my laptop or planting someting in it or stealing my info. If he needs a laptop to use, I can point him to the nearest internet cafe. If he needs a charger, I can direct him to the nearest charging station. If he needs to use a phone, I can tell him to use the payphone or the mall's info desk to make his calls. Better be safe than sorry.

Your concern is genuine.time has been changed.you know now it will be very silly if trust anybody blindly.keeping helping attitude is not the thing you shouldnot possess but be extra cautious.i agree that scams are on its top today but that doesnot mean that we should stop helping others.there may be many people who really want help and what if everybody keep this attitude,so if you will ask me i will definatey help others if i feel to do,but indeed to a extent and with caution.
