Feeling bummed out about the possibility of a show going off TV...

A favorite TV show of mine may be going off of the air due to mismanagement, and I feel very sad right now, really, and I should not feel this way, but I do. See, I was just reading online where a new head honcho has been hired to oversee my favorite soap opera, "The Young and the Restless." From what I have been reading online about this new honcho, she comes to shows, fires a whole lot of people, basically butchers the show, the ratings drop and the show is cancelled. This has happened several times with this person. I read where, in the past, when she was in charge of a certain soap, that she fired the main matriarch off of the show, who happened to be a woman in her 90's. Who fires a 90 year old woman?? And now this person is in charge over at Y and R?! She's already firing a whole slew of people. I'm always the first to say "don't depend on people or things because people and things will let you down", and yet, here I am feeling really bummed over this thing, this show...the possible demise of it. I never really knew how much this show meant to me until faced with fact that it might go off the air.

I know exactly how you feel, but for a slightly different reason. In our area we have KCNS channel 38,which until recently had a great programming RTV.You would see old shows you didn't see anywhere else, like Route 66,The Saint,The Real McCoys,Daniel Boone,The New Zorro,Hopalong Cassidy,Jim Bowie, and lots more.I looked forward every day to seeing at least a couple of those shows.Well,a couple weeks ago, without warning, the station changed formats to yet another Spanish language station! As if we don't have enough already.I mean, this is America! It seems every other station around here is in Spanish!

Well, I must admit, I LOVE Spanish stations, have you ever seen an actor named William Levy?? I'm with you, I like old shows too, Daniel Boone, The Saint...those shows seem so well made, and the pace in the shows seems slower, more thought-out, an actual story as opposed to a lot of eye-candy and/or stupid dialog. Perhaps you can catch some of these shows on the Internet somewhere? Even if you can watch the shows on the computer though, there is just something about watching an old show via TV that feels so...heartwarming I guess would be the word.

Some people may think that a soap opera being cancelled is no big deal. But it would mean the loss of many jobs and not just the actors. There are many more people behind the scenes that are employed because of a soap opera. I like Y&R even when some of the story lines are disappointing to me. I especially like it right now because one of my favorite actresses, Amelia Heinle, is on it. There may be hope since the news is that Eric Braeden(Victor) just signed a new long term contract with little problem in the negotiations which is a change from the difficult negotiations associated with his previous contracts. I watch it when I am exercising which helps such things to go faster or seem to go faster.

Well, I'm not fond of television soap operas, no one has ever been one that I have followed. In every way, I personally would not worry too much if my favorite TV show is no longer be transmitted. I worry about more important things in life and more serious. Reading your discussion, however, a sentence that you wrote struck me, because I think that in a sense, reflect the truth. Your sentence is this: "do not depend on people or things and things Because people will let you down "
