I think like alot of the others - it's when a person can't make it through a day without a drink - in my opinion the quantity doesn't necessarily matter - but it's the fact that the person has to have a drink(no matter what type) - even if they were sick that day - it's that addiction that pulls them right back to the bottle!!!

Hi there, seems to be a common agreement that if you can't make it though the day without a drink then you've got a problem. Thanks a lot for responding!

I think that it is when you are no longer drinking to have fun. You are doing it to get rid of pain and doing it by yourself, and in the middle of the day. That's when you should realize that something isn't right.

when you can think of nothing but getting that next drink...first thing in the morning, all through the day and the last thing at night. it rules your life...you can't seem to function without it(even though you can't function with it either)

Thanks for your response, but how do you know when you're an addict?
