Hello to you. I think I'm also afraid of the dark especially when I'm all alone at home. Before, I was left alone in my sister's home before she had a trip to another country. Before she left, she told me about some of the the things that scared her in the apartment we stayed. She told me about some sounds she heard at night. At first, I really didn't like to believe it. I think maybe it was only her imagination or something.
For me not to be afraid while sleeping all alone in a dark room, I also listened to my favorite songs. I also send some text messages to my boyfriend so I won't be afraid. Sometimes, I also keep on imagining having some ghosts beside me just like what I've been watching in some movies. As a result, sometimes, I even turn on the TV and watch a little so I could forget about my creepy thoughts. Though, if I think the ways I mentioned on how to gain my courage in a dark room aren't so effective yet, I really turn on the light until I fall asleep. I would only turn it off when it's already around 4am. That time, I would only get up a little and I could easily go back to sleep. I think I really don't like to stay in a very dark place all alone. If I have someone with me, it's a bit alright. Happy myLotting to you. May you enjoy your weekend. :)

Hello there. You're very much welcome. I agree with you. I think we could really learn how to be strong. Even though we're really afraid of the dark, we should conquer our fears because it's not all the time that we could be together with other people. If we are really all alone and it's really dark, we should take care of ourselves and we should learn how to do some ways for us not to be afraid. Thank you also for the encouragement. Happy myLotting. :)

I'm scared of the dark too. The things I can't see scare me at night time. I'm even scared of sleeping in the dark by myself so I have to have someone or something. I use to turn to music when I was younger and didn't have anyone to sleep with like I do now. Everyone is scared of something and it's not ridiculous to feel the way you do. I would sleep with a very soft light and slowly work your way with out sleeping with out it. Over time it makes the room feel like there isn't anything there. Also if it helps you can always pray for anything bad to go away for a higher power to protect and watch after you. Also music, or tv being on can help even possibly sleeping with something. It might sound silly sleeping with stuff animals but it always comforted me even after I entered adulthood.

I don't imagine things any more. But I do believe in the things you can't see that do live in the dark. I was more scared of the dark as a child then I am as an adult.

I am sometimes scared of the dark, specially when I am alone or in a strange place. I studied in another town for two years and lived in a hostel during that time. When my roommate was around, it was fine. But when I was alone, I would be scared and will not be able to sleep until very late.
I would also hear strange sounds and feel like somebody was knocking on the door, or someone was crying somewhere. Or I would be unable to even move on the bed cause I would fear that a wrinkled yellowish grey hand would sneak up and touch me from under the bed. I would also see weird, scary creature and shapes in the dark room, which would be normal things in daylight. For example, my roommate's folded mattress would seem like its is moving and waking u, and turning into a horror movie creature. Oh and let me not forget, I would never be able to look into my teddy bear's eyes because they would be shining and see and seem really alive. Urgh! Horrible imagination, I know.
I then tried to watch romantic or funny movies right before sleeping, or I would listen to some sweet, soft music. That helped sometimes.

No I am not and I never been. I always walk around in the dark even in my own house. It feels save and way more relaxed. One of my daughters (now 28) and son (9 years old) are afraid in the dark. I (still) wonder why, when it started. My son can sleep with the door of his bedroom open (hearing the noise his other sister is making and probably seeing the light in her bedroom), how my eldest (living on her own) now is dealing with it I don't know. I wonder if you know why you are afraid in the dark.

I was afraid of the dark before. Nowadays, I'm no longer afraid. However, when I see some horror movies, I feel scared after watching it. After a day, I usually get over it. LOL. I guess you have to tell yourself that there is nothing scary. Those you are scared of are just the product of your mind. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

I think i am afraid of the dark, because i might meet people or animal who can harm me unknowingly . As for ghosts, i am afraid of them yes, but not as much as meeting harmful people or animal in the dark.
