Losing Your Mind

Well, have you ever doubted your sanity? This morning I was at my parent's house, and my dad was having trouble with his cell phone. The battery was constantly dying, and this morning he couldn't hang up a call. I mean he pushed end, but the phone would not hang up. He'd try to turn his phone off even completely, and it would not turn off. So he sits down beside me, and if you remember, he's completely deaf in one ear. My mom is in the corner of the room (my mom has dementia for those that don't know). He takes the battery out of the phone and he c ocks his head. My mom is laughing a weird laugh, making noises I guess people make when they have lost their mind. A look comes into my dad's eyes and all of a sudden it occurs to me he's hearing my mom's noise, but doesn't know what it is. So I say, "Dad, the noise is mom." He got this relieved look on his face and said, "Oh thank the Lord. I was thinking, how can a phone work without a battery? And I started doubting my sanity."
Which sent me into a fit of giggles.

Your dad sounds like a really funny guy and I can see how with his hearing not so good how that could cause him to wonder. . .

It's awesome to see that such a funny guy has managed to keep his sense of humor. Sometimes with stress, age, body changes, etc people seem to forget about the simple things in life and concentrate more on the negatives. Glad that isn't the case here

Cute! I bet it was kinda scary though! I have times when I do think I am losing it. The worst is walking into a room then standing there trying to remember why you are there....or someone you know so well then you can't think of their names. I have to go through the alphabet and try to connect the name and face.

Oh, how I can relate to losing one's sanity, because I have hearing loss too. It's good to hear he has a good sense of humor about it all! It's also good that you have a sense a humor too. It's not easy when you're parents are getting older, but you have to have a sense of humor to get through it! Anyways, back to the topic at hand..
As I've said, with my hearing loss I can't judge where a sound/noise is coming from. I'll be looking around to see where it's coming from and by then it's too late. So, I'm like maybe I'm losing it, because I don't know if I'm actually hearing something or not. I know some days other people doubt my sanity! I remember working at a motel and it was one of those days that everything that could go wrong, did! So as a stress reliever (after everyone had checked out and all the employees left) I went out in the parking lot and let out (what I call a "primal") a scream!

I'm sorry but I had to laugh at that.. yes it made me giggle too! And I liked hearing of your spontaneous 'life is crazy' moment and laughter!
- Life IS crazy, and a struggle, and if we can have a sense of humor, it sure does help!

That's pretty funny. I just had a similar experience yesterday but still no explanaation and luckily my boss witnessed it so I know it isn't just me. The phone rang and my boss picked it up in his office. It was for me and he switched it out of his office to tell me about it because he thought he lost the call in the transfer. Well, he did not. The phone would just not stop ringing and yet I was talking to the customer who kept going, "Sid, Why is your phone still ringing?". It continued to ring throughout the conversation. Just weird.

No Seriously, I just giggled myself. That is so funny! Such a stress reliever really. It's weird how his phone is acting, sounds like some sort of a hardware problem if it's still under contract maybe taking it in to get it fixed would be the best bet.

Lol,,, so funny, your mom laughing at your dad who was trying to find the cause of error on her mobile phone, but her laugh do not get attention from your dad he's focused on his mobile phone, thats is why he did not think that he had heard a strange noise whic was made of by your mother

Whenever I feel frustrated about something I stop and laugh at it because at the end of the day I know that this is just a simple challenge that is trying to test me and I know that I can solve it if I will try to figure it out. So losing my mind is not something I always encounter.

Losing your mind means for sure the loss of personal life. Why must anyone go to the exetent of getting oneslf dejected and forlorn Life might carry a whole lot of problems. But managing those things wisely is living in its entirety and concern.

First - I have days when I really do doubt my sanity Secondly, I have to tell you that I really have great admiration for your father as he sounds to be such a nice gentleman. And what a sense of humourhe needs the humour to deal with your mother. I do hope that he sorted out the phone problem and all is well.

Yeah it does happen with all of us at some point of time when we loose our mind and we stop thinking for a while. The case with your dad was no exception. We human beings are generally restless and impatient class of people who would always like to have things coming our way and if this does not happen then we start behaving in a different way that might be at times weird for others.
What say?

Hi friend, you shared a funny incident which happened in your house, some persons have this kind of habit, they never stop their talking activities in cell phone until it loses its charge, i think your father is in this sort
