Most of us heard about the term IQ which stands for Intelligence quotient. IQ tests means testing our intelligence and knowledge. Each of us having different stands in IQ. Even some smart and high scoring students may poor in their knowledge, we come to know about it with this kind of IQ tests, it is entirely different from our normal tests and exams.
IQ tests are one of the best way to show our real talents, knowledge and efficiency. Different kind of IQ tests are conducting in various places, this kind of tests are good to increase our knowledge as well as test our knowledge. Mostly school students will under go for this kind of IQ tests.
Now a days this kind of IQ tests are conducted by interviewers too, while attending interview, some companies are interested in checking our IQ, so they will conduct a separate IQ test to know about our knowledge, some online sites will provide this kind of IQ tests, better to participate in this kind of sites to increase our knowledge and IQ.
In my opinion i think this kind of IQ tests are important to show our real intellectual talent. Each and every one is having their own unique knowledge and skills, this kind of IQ tests will show our real knowledge and help us to show our real talents to others, so i think it is an unique way to show our self. What is your opinion about IQ tests? do you think it is necessary?

well since I give IQ tests as a counsellor, first of all I have to say that you are mixing up exams on knowledge with IQ tests. |There is one standard IQ test in the world and that is the Wechsler Intelligence Scale. Only qualified professionals are allowed to administer it and score it. Not people in companies, hiring people, unless they happen to have a counsellor of psychologist on staff.
These tests they give are aptitude tests which is very different.
Those tests are trying to key in on what your aptitude and knowledge and ability is for the job at hand, it is not the IQ test where you are actually given an IQ score.
The so called IQ tests online are fun but not accurate, we don't know how long a person takes to complete the test nor if that person opened a book, looked up the answer online or asked someone for the answer. This is unacceptable in psychology because standardization is important.
The real IQ test is done in privacy with the counsellor, psychologist and no interference and a time limit.
There is much criticism about the IQ test and that center mostly on cultural differences. The original IQ tests was made for the American population, and little children in china and india were asked questions like what is snow. They didn't know the answer so they scored very low on the IQ test.
Now it is culturally defined. So it is better but still not perfect.

Never heard about them being used for interviews, I don't think that'd be allowed here. At least it had to be volunteray. Not sure I'd bother with doing it for an interview, after all, IQ-tests won't really show what you know and what skills you posess. I know that some of my fellew students did the mensa-test when we studied. I didn't try it, I looked at some of the tests but decided that I'd rather use more time studying :-)
I know they use different sorts of test on children in school, especially if they have problems. There has been some discussion on what to do with children that don't have the same cultural references, as that can influence their score in different ways.

Yes, I take IQ tests several times when I was just applying for a job. In fact I took the test five months ago just before I started with my training. It was a series of tests actually and there are part on emotional quotient where I got a low rating. I got an above average rating on mathematical ability and grammar and the rest are average.
He he just sharing. But actually, personally it doesn't really matter if a person got a very high IQ or not. There are lot of persons who became successful in life even if they are not very intelligent. Sometimes too much intelligence is not also good. Especially if they are not using it in proper way.
Have a nice day!

No, I don't think an IQ test is necessary, but of course they can be helpful.
As we all know, it is not how smart we are, or how high our IQ is, but what we do with the smarts we have is what really matters. We can have all the talent in the world, but unless we put the work behind that talent to make something of it, then that talent will not serve us.
Still, it is interesting to get your IQ score and see how you measure up against other people

I think its a good thing to know what are skills are and where our knowledge is. This way we can find out what they are. We will also then know what to improve
