My sister-in-law, who is a christian, visited me last Saturday, and while we are talking, she notice my shirt has a print " angel of darkness" and some tribal designs. My sister-in-law suddenly inform me that, in church they are taught never to wear clothes that has prints or designs that are implications of going against the teaching of Jesus. I'm surprise to hear such information, cause for me, those prints doesn't matter as long as i practice what i think is in accordance to the 10 commandments. How about you fellow mylotters, do you agree with this?

Your shirt could seem quite provocative. What did you mean when you wore that shirt? I know that we are not what we wear, but sometimes we can be judged by what we do. A shirt is just that, a shirt, but be sensitive. I would imagine that your sister-in-law is someone that gives you the benefit of the doubt if there is any question of your character. Just try not to cause any controversy. The last thing you need is a family feud over a shirt.

I am glad you get along well with your sister-in-law. I just hope that there isn't anymore question about what you are wearing. After all, one must look deeper, but perception can be reality for some.

None, it just happen that it's what i'm wearing that day, and i'm the type of person who really don't give implications on prints or design of my clothes as long as it's not obscène or as long as i'm comfortable With it. As With regard to my Character i don't think its really an issue cause we get along Well.

I had a girlfriend like that and since then, when I saw how much a person can be influenced by religion, I decided to stay away from these kind of people. In my opinion you should not listen her in any kind o matters when she involves religion.

If you talk about religion. it is one of the highly sensitive issue these days. people get provoked for no reasons. Whenever i see such discussions nine or offline, I prefer to stay away or give a no harm opinions. there is no way you can join a party and talk. in that case, you are just adding fuel to the fire.

hi sebaco, my sister-in-law is really influenced on her belief, and i cant change that, but my only comment is that, she should also think if the words coming from her mouth is not against the teaching to her, since its plain and simple that what she committed is a simple act of judging me,but i'm fine with that, as long as i'm doing what is right. have a nice day.

Sounds like she's caught up in religion not God and is going by what others say and not forming her own opinion. I have a brother like that, he goes strictly by what his pastor says and doesn't think for himself half the time, it really infuriates me and I've told him so. Oh well.

I think what to wear is strictly a persons choice if the place doesnt have specific dress codes. If the place has so then either he follow it or better h avoid that place. but one thing is there , you dont have to listen to what others say. listen to your inner conscience. if you feel something is offensive its better not to do it.

Hello violann, then you know the feeling of being with a person who goes with what is told and not on what is written in the Bible. It's really frustrating on my part cause it's not what i expect her, but i cant really tell him, or i just don't have the guts. happy mylotting.

I know the feeling, if there's anyway to bring it up, tell her that the bible states to study to show yourself approved. I don't remember where it's at but that what Jesus told his followers and everyone else. You just can't blindly follow some religious teaching it could destroy you.

i don't mind wearing hand-me-down clothes, shoes and bags either from other members of my family. i think people that had their homes burned down or swept away by floods will also be grateful for anything the receive for the meantime. but, like you, i will draw the line if the writings or drawings are too malicious for my taste.

Even Initially i never cared for what was typed in t shirts. infact i rarely go for tee shirts with one liners. i prefer plain ones or the one with just designs.

Well to be very honest, i also feel that at least while giving a visit to the religious places like temples, churches, etc we should be in a proper attire so that we can maintain peace and solace every where and such that people are not distracted due to us during their prayer sessions. u can wear any designs of your choice and will outside the religious places and u wont have any body commenting on that too but at least we should make it a point that we all should take care of your dressing etiquette when we are inside a religious place. What say?

I wont say you need to follow a uniform code or some sort of specific dress. but at least we should have some manners. I have seen people wear some funky shirts and come to temples. i mean i really dot understand these peoples mentality.

We don't really need to follow certain dress code and we need to dress according to the occasion or location, but i don't think it would be appropriate to address the personality of a person just because of the prints of the clothes that one is wearing, I still believe that what matters most is how we carry ourselves professionally in such occasion.

hi, i do agree with you, but the point is, i'm at home that time doing my laundry, but i guess she's just trying to share the teachings of her church, and i respect that but its annoying sometimes. thanks

i have this hand-me-down t-shirt that says "i'm just here for the free drinks" in really big gold letters. i don't drink but i still wear it because it's not fitted and the material is light so i don't sweat a lot when i wear it. but yes, i remember an officemate who got conscious when i teased her because her t-shirt says ez-2-get.

I just cat believe your colleague wore that at the office. there are many work places where casual wears are allowed. even my work place allows casual wears. but I see to it that I wear a comparatively decent dress. even other people too follow the same. good that you pointed it out.

hereandthere, that's funny or shall we say LOL. There's really a lot of clothes nowadays that has prints that implies something but i guess that's one of the manufacturers ways for profit, but sometimes others wears it for fun but don't really have the intention of having someone thinks that its what they really is. Your right, its really all about perception.

we have a casual day (saturday) so we can wear jeans, tshirt and sneakers. the design is actually pretty small that most people won't notice. but i seem to be cursed with eagle eyes and noticed the words written in the middle. personally, i wouldn't be too worried about it, i don't think it's offensive at all. it can even be seen as a joke since she's married with kids. to me, it's all about perception.

a pleasant day zip12ph, with reference to your post, for me, prints on shirts doesn't correlate really on the person's attitude. as the trends of prints now a days are really like that. i mean, you will see big prints as the designs of the shirts but it doesn't mean that they are acting in not so good characters.

The prints on the shirt is never related to a persons attitude. but the questions is when i walk down the street with a print shirt saying "I am a bad ***". i dont think anyone seeing that would be fine with it. i mean some people might o care. but some people might say i am nuts. Since i am a bit social conscious, i would preferably avoid such scenarios.

A pleasant day too Airashiela, yes, it really don't correlate, in fact it don't even have connections, personality to prints on shirt. I can't even remember situation, in my years of existence of anyone who's personality is shown on the clothes being worn by them. Can you remember any? i guess there's none, but what i'm saying is what we show to others is what matters.

I think there are more strict places in our part of the country. I mean in worst cases people would even have man handled the guy. I prefer to wear conservative dresses at those places. Why should we create a reason for unrest. i would prefer not to provoke any one knowingly.

hi bhabycatch, i myself respect her, but was just stunned to hear her say things like it, since the way she delivers her comment is like judging me some way. Which, i for one would consider as more horrible than wearing my shirt. But its the reality that counts, i know my self better than the prints on my shirt. thank you.

Well, I can say it does. I have several shirts with logo of my department for proper identity and I always use those. It is a big thing for me. Why? I can walk with ease even in other places within our country and I'm sure the people especially the men in uniform will give due respect. Similarly, my children will asked me to have their shirts personalized because they want the people to know that they like this or that. Although not at all time, but surely our clothing reflects our personality in general. Have a nice day!

I think those things are fine. i mean having your company logo or a decent message in your shirt doesnt sound offensive. i dont think people would be bothered at all. the problem comes when you have some mature content as one liners on your shirts.

hi Aries, i guess if the shirt would imply the status of a person in a certain location, then i guess the print would really matter but if the print is just a sort of design and the person who wears it is not even aware that a certain prints is in those design, or it implies something to a person but it don't really matter to the other, i guess it will now depend on the person who is wearing it, but the personality, for me, still will depend on the teachings provided to us. Have a nice day too. Thank you.

Hi friend, i don't think this kind of printings are against to Jesus, i agree with you. There is no connection between the shirt design and religion, this kind of activities are just superstitious thoughts

For me, it doesn't really matter. We wouldn't be one less of a person because of the print on our shirt. There are some out there who talks about God and everything righteous but in real honesty, they are the ones who should be condemned because they don't really practice what they preach. I think some would notice and comment on what we do, and in your case wearing a shirt with a print of angel of darkness, because they just wanted to let us know that they are the righteous ones and we should also follow what their path is. It is always and should be up to us as to whether we will JUST follow because that's what others are doing or decide against it because we have our own minds to decide and free will to do what we want.

It all depends on how we perceive it. if you are a person who doesnt care about what people feel abot you, then you dont have to worry at all. But if you are society conscious, i would suggest you be a bit careful. In conservative countries like ours, if we wear some nasty one liners and go to some religious places, people would just gouge at you like anything.

Thanks Tetris, that's actually my answer to my sister-in-law, but since i don't want to have a lengthy discussion , since i felt its irrelevant, i just stop and continue with my laundry. But i know for the fact that some person really dress well just to hide the imperfection that they have, or even to mask on what they really are, but a simple print does not connotes who a person really is, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. nice comment.
