My sister and her boyfriend were invited to his friends buck and doe or something. They are getitng married (their friends), and they said its a party of this something like pampered chef, but 10x more. They ahd the nerve to say come to our party btw you have to buy a gift.
She showed me the magazine, catalog and the items were ridiculous. The pots were $1,000. I would never in my life ask or expect someone to do this for me. Its a slap in the face, I would say I cant go.
My sister went with her boyfriend they spent $200.00 and that was the cheapiest, yet they only talk to this couple once or twice a year.

Some things are just way out of price range. I have some expensive pans, I bought them myself over thirty years ago. They are good, they last, but I did not expect someone to buy them for me.

Wow, seriously? Seems to me like they just want to get something in return for the party, the food and drinks that they will provide for the guests. Pretty sneaky if you ask me. You are right in your stand in not going if asked, I would have answered the same. You invite guests to your party because you want to have some fun and share that day with your family and friends, and not to impose the buying of your chosen household stuff to them. I just can't believe their nerve.

hi ricki wow thats really steep and expecting someone of limited
income to spend that kind of money is really stupid.you should just say I cannot go as I have other plans.I bet the 200 they spent was not on their budget even or do they have that much
moxie to have a budget?

Nope, my sister has all her credit cards maxed to the limit, and student loans to pay off. She really has no money to spend. Her boyfriend does, as he literally has nothing to pay for. But I wouldnt buy that only for a friend you met a couple years ago, and see 1 -2 times a year. I mean if it were a close friend that you were really close too. You could order things for yourself and my sister spent over $300.00 on top of that.

It sounds to me as if the couple who asked them to come just wanted a gift or something, they didn't want the company. I would not go either, I'd send a note of apology and that's it. I might send a small gift if I had once been close with them, but that's it.

That is really over the top. I used to go to Home Interior parties, but I hardly ever bought anything...just chances for the raffles to win stuff. There are so many of these types of parties....candles, undies, clothes, art...it seems like people will do anything to earn a buck anymore.

Sounds like a money making scheme to me. And no, I would not go as it is insulting. I would politely decline and then keep far from them

WOW!
sounds more like they were fishing for items! If someone asked me i wouldnt even go. 200 bucks for the cheapest thing? i,d rather take my mom, dad and my lil sis out to dinner!
+ to me its nonsense they were even asked themselves. This is surely and purely for the gifts.
