Does anyone else simply love Sanibel Island, Florida?

I love, love, love Sanibel Island. I have been there 3 times in the past year. Driving over the causeway that connects Sanibel to the mainland in Fort Myers is one of the best feelings in the world. It's like you can feel your stress just floating away. The pace of life is so laid back there and people are friendly. The beaches are beautiful and there are shells galore!
Does anyone else feel this way?

I don't get to travel because of money concerns, but this sounds really wonderful. I can tell just by the way you are telling the discussion, that it is beautiful.
It sounds like somewhere I would just love to go. I like peaceful destinations and especially laid back atomospheres. The most I get to do is camping and that's how I feel when I do that, it's a different world. Just takes me back to nature and out of the city. I really don't belong in the city but have no choice.
Tell me more about Sanibel Island..

Well if you ever get the opportunity to go, do take it! Over half the island is comprised of wildlife refuges, so you get to see a lot of species of birds and other wildlife that you wouldn't otherwise see. Because of the shape and orientation of the island, it basically scoops up shells from the Gulf of Mexico giving beach-goers quite a lovely selection of shells. There are ordinances in place that prevent any building from being over 3 stories, no neon signs are allowed and there are no stoplights. There are frequently dolphins playing and feeding near the beach and you just might spot a manatee or two :)
I've never vacationed anywhere else that made me feel so much at peace. I am actually looking for jobs so I can relocate to Fort Myers to be closer to the island. I'm out of money for vacations, so my only option is to find a job and move there ;)

After you explicitly described this island, I'm ready to move too and I thank you for such a great description. I really hope you get the chance to move there as it just sounds so surreal!
That just sounds fantastic and I hope, I really hope, one day I'll be able to go there. That sounds exactly how I'd like to live and I LOVE animals so that's right up my alley too. I have a whole box of seashells here from my daughter when she went to Dewey Beach in Delaware. She loves it there like you love this island. I will tell her about this though.
It's funny because I always wanted to live on an island, haha. I remember many, many years ago, like in the 70s there was a contest to win your own island in Florida. I tried my darndest to win it, lol!
Maybe if I win the lottery...

Oh my gosh, how awesome would that have been if you had won your own island! We need more contests like that!

Hi,
Being on an island is to have a unique way of life, away from the cares of the daily grind. You should try SCUBA diving on the reefs and you enter a whole new world of experience out there.
The wild life inland I love too, just be careful not to have a rifle in my hands for I would itch to shoot one of these wild games which can be illegal in some parts. I love hunting too, it is one passion I still have to do away with aside from SCUBA diving.

You're right, island life is unique, and I think I could definitely get used to it. I would love to try scuba diving next time I have the opportunity!

It does sound gorgeous in Sanibel Island in Florida. I haven't yet been to but am keen to do so. I adore tropical islands with white sand and green palm trees. I like beautiful beaches and pretty shells. I wish to visit Florida one day in the future.
