Hi mylotters! I am just wondering, are any of you into homestay business? I am thinking of venturing into this business. It is not a glamourous business because I think it's more to do with providing a simple accomodation, like the budget type and introducing the culture, food, and lifestyle of people from a certain place. I think I can learn a lot from this business. Can you share any stories, experiences and knowledge about homestay business? I like to hear if you have. Happy Monday to all mylotters!

That would be a good business if you have suitable place and enthusiasm to offer. I have not done it myself, but in the past I was involved with some foreign exchange students programs and I helped arrange for their homestay. Depending on your location, some places do not really have many homestay available; so those who provided it seemed to have no trouble getting continuous business.

That is a very good idea, the foreign exchange students program. How and where in the internet can I register to join this program? Can you recommend any?

Hi Micha, the first thing you need to do is decide on what you want :) and your business, online or offline, should be something that interest you or else you'll get burned out. Did you noticed that the most successful business owners/entrepreneurs are the ones who are truly enjoying what they're doing? There's lots of business options available and it's smart to start with something that you really like. Just my opinion, have a nice day!

Hi, thanks for the advice. I have a neighbour who is officially a homestay operator. It is, in my opinion a small-scale business which can be done online or offline. Homestay here means the owner of the house lives with his guests and the maximum room you can offer is just three rooms. This business, the way I see it is very relaxing and fun-filled activity, you get to know your guests and they get to know you. So, I think it will not get me burned. You too eppie, have a nice day.
