I just learned something new about my new phone

I drown my old iPhone last summer so I finally got a new one, well, an iPhone 4 anyway, not the iPhone 4S and before the new iPhone 5 came out. ANYWAY, I was poking at it tonight and discovered you can push the unlock page up and go directly to "camera". And it didn't even "click". So, now if I want to take a shot of the cats, I don't have to open the phone, close whatever I left open and then open the camera, I can go straight to camera! That's pretty cool! Why didn't they tell me this at the Apple store? Couldn't she see I had an "antique" iPhone?

There are so many bells and whistles on iPhones that by the time that they had told you all the details of one the next would have come along! I have an iPod Touch and an iPad, both of which do similar things. I do not much care for cell phones so have the cheapest prepaid one that I could find. Why would you want to shoot the vats and wouldn't a rifle be more useful?!

now, now, p1kie, you know my cats are my children... I'd be more likely to take a rifle against some guys I know...

Hi, He meant the bats not vats, wrong again. Anyway, shooting is such a good sport that using the iPhone may suffice if the resolution is good, say around ten Megapixels?

The clerks at the store were probably operating from a memorized set of facts. If you did not ask the right questions they could not bring up the answers.

Yeah, that they are. She told me to call the techs, but honestly, I have better things to do than call techs... like start discussions and respond to them on myLot!

That's interesting I'm still using an antique, and I will till it craps out. Thanks for the advice when the time finally comes for me to upgrade.

I liked my old phone, (I still have it, but now its an iTouch that I only have my old pix on really since I do already have an iPod that I seldom use.) If I were you, well, if you were me, you would only get as much as you needed, that's why I didn't get an 4S, I would've had to upgrade my plan.

I feel that any gadget should be simple enough to figure how to use straight out of the box without having to wade through a reference book of a manual to work it all out..but unfortunately, some of them are so multipurpose and convoluted you'll end up needing a smart kid on hand to show you how..but it's always nice to figure out the workings of some previously "hidden" feature on your own..it gives a sense of achievement!

since I don't have any smart kids to figure things out for me, I've pretty much had to be the "smart kid" I used to program my mom's VCR back in the day. I figure out how to do mine easily enough - of course I was the "smart kid" back then! Okay - 30ish something... I had the very first front loader VCR among my friends - granted, it was also my very first VCR... Still, I'm not afraid to poke apps to see what they do, I kind of do that on my computer - after all, who do you think bails Maggiepie out when she downloads every "pretty" screen saver out there just BEGGING to be hijacked!

At least you know how to use your Iphone and figure out new things on your phone! One of my supervisors,at work, has a cellphone. It is not a IPhone. It is one of those Droid models. She has this phone which is to much for her! Has things on it she can't figure out even after someone explains it to her! She knows some of the things she can do on it but not alot! A week ago she had problems with it and kept asking what the problem was! She couldn't call people and couldn't get to her voice mail. I kept telling her "Caroline go and call you cellphine provider! I have no idea what is the problem!" She still didn't do it and had to use her landline to call people. Finally a day or 2 later she called the cellphone provider! I was right! It was not the phone! It was the cellphone company! She is like your age. She is one person who has a heck of a time with new technology! Yikes!

I have a friend down in Houston that I thought would one of the first to jump on technology, but she isn't. Seems strange that she isn't either... I far from getting something because its new and hot, but I'm also not generally the last...

I also didn't know that, thanks for the info. Well, I don't have my iPhone yet, it's still with my husband and I will be able to finally have it either next month or November. It's kinda funny because I have always been a Blackberry fan, and so is my husband. But for some reason, I thought of buying my husband an iPhone for his birthday this month; turns out that my husband also bought me an iPhone. I bought him a black one, he bought me a white one, lol! I was able to send him my gift through his colleague, but there's no way for him to send it to me without risk of getting lost so I just have to suck the fact that he's got 2 iPones now lol!

Apparently, the Blackberry isn't faring well against the iPhone... so it may be a good thing you've switched...

Elic, I don't even have a regular cell phone, lol! I have no idea what this phone is all about you have and I'm not good with all the techie stuff. I so need to get a life, ha! I have a new camera I'm still trying to figure out..I'm such a sad case here. Your phone sounds pretty cool though and one of these days I will go out and finally break down and buy one. I really need one just for emergencies too..you never know when that will happen. Yes, the people should have explained some of the new features to you...customer service just isn't what it use to be anymore.

"Call the techs" was the most advice she gave me. I poke around and do things to learn them. She did tell me that they have "filing cabinets" or "bookshelves" to file some apps on. Nice, less stuff to clutter up my screen... "Do you have any purchased apps?" she asked. "No." I use it for a phone and camera, a little texting and calendar and calculator... I'm so boring!

That's about what I would use it for so I guess I'd be boring too, haha! I just hate all the different steps to do, like in my camera. I forget them all too easy but I guess with a phone, since you use it so much, it would be different. I don't use my camera as much and then I forget what the heck I'm doing...ugh. I wish I had more brains in this head of mine, haha, or at least have a techi mind..it's just not there.

well, you see, with any app they supply, I'm willing to poke it and see what it does, so I'm not afraid of breaking it - Apple does a pretty good job of basic idiot-proofing their products. I've poke every app on my old phone and the new one only has a few new ones, some of which I've taken time to poke...

That's very good that you learned something new about your iPhone. You will have good time with it's camera. You will be able to upload pictures of your cats, record videos of them...Just, make sure you won't lose your iPhone. I lost mine in a bus. Do whatever you can to keep it near you. Maybe take a string and connect the iPhone to your pants. Maybe a good application can help before losing it. It will be a bummer if you lose your iPhone or drown it. I think you could also learn all about your iPhone if you read the prospect that was given with it. The specification and the user guide are there.

Honestly, if I want to know more about it, I have folks I can ask... just not that interested... my sister got her iPhone and got some apps, her battery is always running down... I use mine as my clock, can go a few days between charges...

I dont have the iphone but blackbery. Whenever I went to get another one they never showed me how it worked, just put it together such as batterym etc. But made sure it turned on, then showed me the door. I find they just want to do a sale, then get you out the door.

iPhones do have great functionalities and most of them you will find out the more you use them. That iPhone 5 though didn't meet my expectations as such. Starting with he rumored transparent screen to other features that were hyped before its release...It just didn't meet my expectation.
