what a day to remember

Yesterday, I was putting muzzle on my dog (while he's on his cage) when he suddenly jumped off. I tried to catch him by grabbing his collar but something in there kind of pricked my ring finger and it really hurt me. I almost collapsed when they said I will be brought to a doctor because I am really afraid and it really hurts. Later, is our scheduled annual physical exam in our company and here is my ring finger with a brace on it, swelling and can't barely move my other fingers. And add to it that my blood will be tested, those needles that I am so afraid of. This is my worst day ever. Have you had any worst days so far? How about blood tests? Is it freaking you out?

Oh what an accident you had adnileb. And to think that you are afraid of needles. Well, me i am more afraid of being pricked just to get a blood sample. I would rather have them get a sample of my blood by injection from my arm. Though, it hurts a bit, but it's nothing compared to the throbbing pain of being pricked.

Oh my that was awful! If i were in your shoes, i would have cried too, out of pain. Imagine being repeatedly pricked and injected just for the blood sample!

Really awful and scary. There is something that they did that I cannot explain here. I’ll try it anyway. Hehe. When they inserted the syringe on my hand (back of palm), there was no blood. And what they did was, they pulled back the needle but not fully pulled out and tried looking for a vein again when no blood was found. That thing was really painful. Hope you understood my story. They tried injecting the needle on my pulse area too. What a desperate and inexperienced nurse. I wanted to get mad that time but I just couldn’t do it due to nervousness. I was really sweating hard.

So sad my friend. As for me, I hate any of those blood sampling methods. It really scares me. I know it doesn’t hurt me though. It just freaks me out, seriously. One time, I was having a blood test and they are getting sample on my arm for my TSH level and the nurse couldn’t find any of my veins. It was a worst day too because they tried pricking me for four times but since no vein was visible, there was no blood and they found my vein on the fourth time. I could cry hard that day. They pricked me two times on my hand and two times on my arm. They said it is not possible to get blood sample on my finger because they need a lot of blood for the test so I have nothing to do but to agree. Thank goodness it stopped on the fourth time because they wanted me to come back the other day!

Hi there.. Thanks for dropping by.. Sad to say, I am not fine. My finger is still swollen. I took a shower awhile ago and still, I can't handle the soap easily. I dipped my left hand in a lukewarm water with salt, just wishing it would calm my nerves. But I think it's getting better now because I can move it a little unlike yesterday and this morning. I really had a bad day today my friend. =( Bad dog I should say. Well, we have 3 dogs, the one that brought me into this situation is really uncontrollable. Before, he put long and deep scratches on my arm, really bad dog. As for the blood test, our medical exam ran smooth and this goes also for the needle as it didn't hurt me that much. =)

#adnileb: You should avoid water on the swollen wound. What I do is - I find a plastic bag and then cover the wound up using it and rubber bands - when I am using this injured finger in water - like when washing utensils or even cutting veggies or even shower. But yes, please dont keep the wound wrapped in plastic for longer durations. It will make it go septic - more dangerous

I was afraid of blood tests before. I guess we really have to be brave enough to face that needle. The last time I was pricked by a needle was in October 2005. I thought I already had a cancer because there were bruises all over my body. Thank God after a month, those bruises were gone already. I was thankful of that blood test. Don't look at the needle if you are scared. Just think that a tiny ant is biting you. LOL. Goodluck. I hope you'll be fine.

Oh, I hate bee stings. I remembered my childhood. Some bees occupied the ceiling of our house. It was made of wood so maybe they found it a good place to live in. I was stinged many times and I still remember tha pain until now. LOL. I just prefer the bite of an ant that a sting of a bee. I guess you can handle well the pain of a needle because you've already been stinged by a bee before. LOL.

Good to hear that it was not cancer. It is a very painful disease any human could get. You really never know when is your time and you will undergo so many medications. As for the needle thing, well, I’d rather be bitten by an ant. (just kidding!) I remember, one time, I wanted to remove the house of bees hanging on our tree. So, I get a plastic and tried putting it there but one of them flew and bit me! And, goodness, it was the worst bite I ever had. Worst than the needle, I guess. And it even swell and so painful.

Yes, I can handle the pain but cannot handle my nervousness. Haha! No matter how many times I have encountered needled on my skin or finger or arm, I still feel nervous and afraid. Bee sting is much more painful but I don’t know that it will bite me so I didn’t get nervous, unlike for blood tests.

Belinda, pity to hear your finger hurt while trying to grab your dog. Hope your finger slowly is getting well soon. When come to physical exam, i do feel scare to undergo one. Especially when we need to have blood test. I don't really like blood test since it hurt quite a lot for them to get my blood. since they said it is hard to draw blood out from my blood veins.

Thanks dear.. Hope my finger will get better later or tomorrow. It's getting better now. I can't move it and still hurts me though. Still bended, and bruised and purple in color. Even the littlest touch to it is so painful that I sometimes shout. =( And thank goodness the blood test is already done. It is really painful. Since it is annually, I still have a year to relax. =) Have a nice day ahead!

Ouch! that is quite a painful thing to happen... when you want be normal and you cannot be... Blood tests? Ah, almost every month... and the worst... they have taken so much blood out of me that now they have difficulty in finding if I have enough blood for their tests... I give them blood for tests and also money for the examinations and in return all I get is a few pages in black and red stating this is right and that is wrong and then they also ask me to consult a doctor Take care of your finger dear adnileb, and return back after you feel easy to type...

I know keying via a handset - it is more tedious and specially whenever I did it there were more of typos forget the slow speed It is also better that your left hand was injured (as I do believe you are a right handed person like me) as many other chores can go on easily despite the pain that you might have. After stitching my left arm in 1999 on my own, I have never felt scared of needles or my own blood... I wouldnt say that I can stand others blood or even seeing them getting those needles. As you know I am ill - have Ulcerative Colitis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and also gall bladder stones... so too many medicines everyday... and in all that there are regular blood tests to check if the other levels in the blood are okay or nee some extra medications

Oh my, you have so many illness. =( Sorry for that dear sids. You stitched your arm on your own?? Why? I mean why not the doctor? You are really brave! I can't imagine stitches on my body and even being hospitalized with lots of needles on my hand. I am so afraid of that. =( Now is the 3rd day for my finger. A bit better than yesterday. It has no wound, only swollen until now. Last night, I woke up so many times because it bumped so many times and it really hurts, I cried. Hope this will get better soon. *hugs*

Hello my friend, glad you dropped by. =) I can type now because I am using my phone. But you know it's more convenient on a keyboard. On my left hand, I can only use my thumb and fore finger. The blood test is already done and the needle wasn't that bad to me today. Hehe.. Why are you having blood tests every month? It must be very painful. I think you are not afraid of it unlike me. =(

Oh yes, I have days like that a lot. I am a klutz and I'm always falling, dropping things, bumping into things, and so on. I injure myself often, but usually it's not too bad. Rarely do I have to go to the hospital. But when I do, it's usually for stitches or something! I'm sorry you are scared of needles. Usually the fear is worse than the actual feel of the needle! I, luckily am not afraid of needles. But I will admit that I don't like dr offices of hospitals. They smell weird and are full of sick people. It just makes me nervous and want to go home... I hope you heal up quickly!

The nice thing is that when they give you stitches, they numb the area so well that it doesn't hurt at all :) I get ill and nervous around doctors too. I try to take someone with me when I go to talk to me and keep me calm!

I can’t imagine still even if they numb my skin. I am so afraid. I do that too; bring someone with me to calm me down. And sometimes, I need something to hold on to like anything. It’s like helping me with the process. I am also afraid even on the anesthetic injection they gave when you will have your tooth extracted. Just imagine the syringe in front of your face to be injected on your gums. That really hurts.

Oh, that’s odd. Be careful always. Every time you go to the hospital, you are being stitched. That’s painful but you are brave to manage all of it. I don’t like hospitals too. Not only because of the smell and sick people but also because of getting nervous with doctors and nurses. I am somewhat imagining needles will be put on me even though it may not be that way, still, I feel ill.

Yup, really a bad day it is. Good thing it was already done yesterday. But still sad because of my finger, still in bad condition, still swollen and purple in color. I cannot move it still. I removed the brace because I think it makes the swelling worse. But it is getting better now unlike the first time and yesterday. Hope all will be well tomorrow.

I feel sorry for you. I hope you are doing fine now. I also have a dog and sometimes I am having a hard time in putting his collar on because he starts to get hyper when I let him out of his cage. He sometime bite me but not the painful part. Maybe just to play with me. Anyway, I hope you are doing fine now. I am also afraid of needles. Last week, I went to the doctor because rashes appeared on my legs. She said I need to get my blood tested. it took me 20 minutes to decide whether I will do the test or not. Then during the process, I thought it was going to hurt but it did not. I did not feel wny pain either. So now I am not afraid of needles anymore.

I have a dog before and bit me many times already. Thank goodness nothing bad happened to me and neither did we go to a doctor. So what was the result of your rashes? Hope it is not that serious rash. I know blood tests don’t hurt me that much but I am still nervous no matter how I think that it doesn’t hurt. I can’t erase it on my mind that I am nervous when it comes to needles being pricked on me. Sometimes when they will get blood sample on my arm, they cannot find any of my veins. Maybe it is hiding because of nervousness.

Hi, This incident reminds me my fracture of my wrist. I was riding on my two wheeler at night. I didn't notice the pit on the road and I had an accident. So I had to do all the tests and have to put on plaster on my wrist for one and half month. It was the worst day in my life. I never afraid of doing blood tests. How are you feeling now? Have you done your blood test or not. Don't avoid it and take care.
@adnileb (5276)

Oh, my... That's really terrible. I can see how difficult it is for you to have a plaster on your wrist more than a month. Was it cemented? As for my injury, it's almost four weeks now. Getting really better but still can't use it normally. I can still feel some cramps when I use it. Even a press on my keyboard, it hurts me a lot. The blood test was for our company's annual physical examination. I was afraid that time but good thing it was finished without fainting. Let's be safe always, have a nice day!

Needles also freak me out. I do not really mind seeing blood, even my own blood for that matter but I really really hate being poked at. Trips to the hospitals, even if it is just a routine check up or a routine vaccine always make me feel nervous.

Oh yes, just the word hospital makes me imagine something then makes me feel really nervous. Whenever something bad happened to me, my mom used to joke that I will be brought to hospital. And she said that yesterday that's why I merely collapsed. It was so painful that's why I thought the hospital thingy was true and glad it wasn't that way. But still I can feel the pain. =(

We all have bad days once in a while. I think it's a constant reminder that we can never have perfect days, but if we decide to make the day or let the day make us, that's where the difference lies. Everything that happens to us, good or bad, is meant to remind us that we can become a better person because of the situation. Just as long as we see the bright side of things. A little optimism daily goes a long way. :)
