China

We will have a presentation in class to introduce a country in different aspects. However, it is not very simple to collect the imformation. Indeed, we prepare to talk about Maldives. Before looking for imformation on the internet, I only know that Maldives is a fantastic place for tourism. My topic is about the severe gender discrimination. I have never ever imagined that female in Maldives will suffer so much before, and I hope the situation will get better because I find their government is attempting to solve this problem.

I don't know what is criteria of your presentation gonna be, but why not focus on that aspect, that might interest a lot of people who listen to your presentation. Basically, a presentation is to attract people's attention, and what you choose to discuss is pretty awesome. Describe the history woman's status in Maldives, then bring in the solution attempted by the local government and other international communities who concern about the equality of woman's status in Maldives.

Indeed, I searched on the Internet about the Maldivian women's life. And I was shocked when I exposed to those miserable statistics that showed how many women were abused in Maldives. So I tried my best to find out its goverment attitude towards this terrible thing. Thankfully, it had already taken measures to solve this problem.

Thank you for your encouragement, I believe that I will do a good job. But what strikes me is the fact that Maldivian women are abused, and the local people have a deep gender discrimination. But I believe everything will be better one day:)

I believe that gender discrimination will disappear from Maldives one day. Yes, it takes time, but it also show that the society is getting more harmonious. It will be excellent if our society can get rid of every bad habbit.

you can further research on that, there are so many materials that appear online regarding that i guess.. it is nice to know a lot about the place not just about its tourism aspect... as there are always two sides in a story. Like in Maldives, a friend went there recently and she said it has wonderful beaches yet under that, like you have they have severe gender discrimination, see? in front people see wonderful things yet deep within there are things negative going on.

We should not only focus on the negtive aspect of one thing. Although Maldivians still saves some bad habbits, there is no denying that it is a tourist paradise. I hope they can get rid of these horrible habbits one day.

Looking at some pictures of Maldives I can say that it's really a lovely place. However, hearing about that gender discrimination, I guess some women there find their place like "hell." I hope their government will solve that problem soon. Happy mylotting.

Yes, I agree with you. I hope sooner than we think. Women are also human beings. Men and women should have equal rights.

Yes, I believe that no female will want to live there, although its scenery is so beautiful. I find that almost every culture has a sense of gender discrimination, but some do well in change people's bad idea about women. It takes time to change, but I believe women's situation will get better.

Today I also have a presentation in our oral english class.Similar with you,we talked about the coutry---Suriname.Something worthy to mention is that man present fish as a gift to the woman who he loves, which is the way that man proposes to a woman, if the woman wants to promise to marry the man,she would cook the fish into a dilicious dish. What a strange way!

Yes, it is really very funny. Every culture has its unique customs, sometimes they are very exciting and admirable. It seems that there exists many completely different customs about showing love. Maybe in other countries, a man just want to show his respect by sending fishes instead of courting. Don't you think it is interesting?

If you can, i think you should travel to Maldives for a visit, you can get more thorough information from your interview with local female, especially, you can live with a local female for a period to get your conclusion by youself. I know it maybe impratical. The only way is internet. But i don't think it's easy to collect information, especially about gender discrimination of such a small country like Maldives.

It is a great idea. Maybe I will travel to Maldives one day. I believe that every culture has its advantages, and Maldivian customs may be very exciting. We can only know more about Maldives when we contactthe local people, and it must be wonderful!

i think your teacher are good teacher.. With giving your task for presenting the paper or journal, it means you must collect some information, and data and then you learn how to present the paper or journal.. And of course you must defend the information that you get from several question from the people which want to know about the content of your paper

Yes, of course, she is a wonderful teacher. Although sometimes we will complain that there are so much homework, but we can not deny that she is a conscientious person. And I believe that I will make a progress if I finish her homework carefully.

Well great to hear that u will be preparing a presentation on Maldives and i suppose u should do a thorough research on that country before u can present it in a better way such that everybody would get a different feel altogether. Yes regarding the gender discrimination, u should look out for the information on the net and also on how their Govt. is trying to resolve these issues. May be then u can add more information to your presentation. best of luck for your presentation. What say?

Yes, you are right. Although we come from different places, we can become friends if we have common topics, and values. Maybe we will have some misunderstanding, but if we sit down to pour out our hearts to our friends, everything will go smoothly.

I heard a lot of country from then about discrimination of women in the society. Even in the Bible! I think it's a kind of tradition in the old times. But for me what's more important is today. :D Today, women strive to achieve the level of men or be equal with them. In some fields, women excel a lot more than men, but also in some fields, men excel more than women.

Yes, you are right. I think this phenonmenon is descreasing day by day. It is a bad babit for almost all ancient countries, but now, more and more people begin to realize the importance of women. Although many countries still undervalue women, it will change completely because of the development of our society.
