our neighbor was robbed

Early this morning, police cars were in our neighbor’s place. Her place is about 4 blocks from our place and is in our far front. It was the second time, that a robber got into her house. Luckily, the first time it was foiled , because her neighbor’s helper called the police and the tanods . Unfortunately, it seems the robber got out before they arrived. Though, nothing was stolen yet. But this time , the windshield of her CRV was shattered! I think, the robber know that sometimes there’s nobody left at home because the widow goes to work he whole day. And she has no dog to bark and alert the neighbors to see that some robbers have gotten inside her place.

Well that's scary and alarming. Robbery is all over the place now. It seem that this kind of crime is rampant when Ber months came and holiday season is coming. Good thing that no one was got hurt. So better be alert and careful all the time cause we never know when the criminals will attack. BE safe everyone.

I guess the robbers have known that the house of the widow is unguarded, no dogs, when she goes to work in the morning until early evening. I really hope that she will be able to have the robber caught. I think the robber is trying to carnap her CRV ar her garage.

Maybe it is the same robber that tried to rob her house the first time. It was foiled because the police and tanods were alerted. The robber knows very well that the widow lives alone and is always at the office during the day. I really hope that this robber be finally caught. He might try other houses too.

It may even be somebody your neighbour knows

This is what I also thought. It could be someone that's also from the neighborhood, or someone that you guys are familiar with. The robber or robbers seem to know the comings and goings of your neighbor to be able to time it when she wasn't there. It is kind of scary to think what they can do to her if ever they got there with her in the house.

That's what we are thinking of also. It could be one of those drivers or "padyaks", (bicycles with side cars for passengers to ride). The woman lives alone. Sometimes, her daughter-in-law by her late husband comes too, but she too would also be out to work.

barking dog is useless.in some case ,the robber is just like the sperman or the spiderman. my friend is living on the 28th floor, the robber didn't broken the door lock, came into his room from the window,my friend and his dog was sleeping so heavy, donot know what happend that night ,until tomorrow morning,he found the room was in a mess, and canot find his PC,he was so disappointed about his dog .and the police didn't know how the robber can climb to the top of the buildding. so donot put too much cash and valuables in your home ,just as donot put all the eggs in a basket.

I guess your friend's dog is a toy dog, like a pug or a tzi tsu. But had your friends have a doberman, for sure it could have barked and bitten the robber.

Yes, thank God no one got hurt. She was alone that night, and her daughter-in-law from her late husband just went there and her friends when she phoned them about what happened. I too, passed by her before going to the office, to see if she is alright.

I'm sorry to hear about what's happening in your neighborhood but of course to your neighbor who had been robbed. I guess there's no more safe place now a days. Ill minded people are getting bolder and bolder committing crimes especially this time of year. I think the best we could do is, be alert always and see to it that all doors are locked especially at night. Having dogs could be an advantage too that could alert us in case there are outsiders in the neighborhood.

Yes, dog can really be our onlooker as to whether there's a stranger in the neighborhood. Us and our neighbors have both 3 or more dogs each. And to think, that a dog of ours would really always bark whenever someone from us comes from the outside. Well, that's nice because there's no familiarity.

How about considering getting a household help so that someone is at home when she's not around? or maybe a security, if she has more budget. It is better be safe and ready than sorry.

Well, that's really another good option. Maybe by now she is considering things that could deter another robbery.

She has a dog jazel , but it's a tzi tsu (did i spell it right? ). In my opinion, she really has to have a dog that can really bark at people. That way, whenever it barks, the helper on the next house can take a look and call the police if he noticed somebody there when she's at work.

Is your neighborhood surrounded by wall so that there is only one gate to enter the housing? My housing complex is protected by high wall that surrounds the houses. We have security guards working 24 hours waiting at the entrance gate. When someone comes in the guards ask his or her identity card and question the visitor. It's great way to do this, I think.

Well, it is a subdivision , but it has a lot of entry and exit points. And since it was already turned over to the local government, we don't have guards like those posh subdivisions have. It is a subdivision, where some private cars can pass by as shortcuts. Sad, but it's that way.

Needless to say,the robber tested the terrain and found out the pattern of activities of the widow before acting.By the way, what is the CRV ?

Yeah, i think he really did. He knows the ins and outs of the house and have done it he second time. CRV is a car, by Honda chang.

I doubt a barking dog will help. Many people over here have barking dogs, barking for no reason so nobody is alarmed. Same with alarm systems incl. those in cars. They can go for a long time (also false alarms) nobody takes notice of that anymore. I think a saver way is not to get into habits and not let people have a peep into your house. Many people seem to like to show what is in their house. I always wonder why. And if you are more frequently the victim of robbery you should better ask yourself how come, how to prevent (you can make it a robber harder to get in) and ask neighbours to keep an eye on your property. If this all will help I don't know. My next door neighbour was "robbed" in the middle of the night. She and her daughter were sleeping. They came in by the back door, took some stuff (no mess in the house), the keys of her new car and left by car through the front door. We all think (includes her) that these were people who know her (I think her daughter had a part in it).

It is maybe because too, that the house is really evident that there is no one manning it on daytime. And the moment the widow goes out to work with her car, it is already very inviting for the robber to come in. Specially that our place in the subdivision is secluded from the main street and there are vacant lots that separates us. Lucky, that they weren't harmed by the robbers. At least they lost some possessions but not their lives.
