Surprises at the airport

In 2010 I got the surprise that my flight was delayed due to fog. The plane to Cape Town was meant to leave at 7 in the evening but it wasn't able to go until 1 in the morning. Therefore it was the night time. I was traveled with my disabled son when he was aged 20 months old. Then in 2011 I got no surprises at London but I did on the actual plane when it sat still for around 2 hours. I had a surprise in Spain when I found out we had missed the plane to Colombia. It was a delightful surprise when another airline let us go on their plane. We sat right at the back on economy class where cabin crew usually sit. Have you had a surprise at an airport or on your journey? If so please discuss what happened?

oh, i just know how hassle it is to receive such news like flight delayed. this transpired last may about 1st week 2012. we were on the airport in South Korea waiting for our flight going back to Manila, Philippines. although i noticed that it was too foggy outside but never thought something else would happen that night. i was even too excited to go back home since i didn't have enough clothes to wear if ever extensions will happen during my stay in Korea. after an hour, we heard an announcement saying that it will take time for the plane to land since they can't see any chance of landing because of the thick fog. a few minutes after, an announcement again was made and we were told that our flight was cancelled and the plane went straight to Narita, Japan. the hassle to this is that all my bags were already checked-in and i don't have any toiletries placed inside my bag. that was much more a hassle thinking what to wear overnight. we were transported to a hotel that night and awaited for the news whether we can fly back to Manila with the flight schedule they may offer us as earlier as possible. it was an experience i will never forget ever and i learned one thing. whenever you travel outside, be sure you have toiletries to use placed inside your bag incase of emergencies such as these happens. Good day to you.

Thanks for your wonderful response. You know exactly how a delayed or canceled flight makes the passenger feel. That journey to Cape Town felt even longer than the 12 hours on the plane due to the delay. The plane had on it incoming journey flown to Manchester and put its passengers on a coach to London. Yes, it is essential to have some toiletries in the hand luggage. The liquids rule means I can only take tiny amounts but at least it can last a couple of days. Arriving in Colombia our luggage had got delayed. We left the airport with just hand luggage. You wished to go from South Korea to the Philippines so it was crazy the plane flew off to Japan. Bad weather really can affect aircraft taking off and landing.

I have never taken flight, but my sister has taken flight twice, both of which are short haul, and according to her, take flight is exciting experience, with a little nervous, especially when the plane take off,and when the plane in the sky,you will feel helpless, which is very different from bying car,so she is prefer to bying car,and i have the same opinion.

I have had so many bad experiences that I always have a change of clothes and other stuff that I call my survival kit in my hand luggage. I got stranded in Canada once with a five week old preemie baby and a jealous two year old. In the winter. Not a good scene at all as I actually cried at the callousness of the flight attendants

I do have some experiences in my flight, i have experienced delay for almost an hour or a day, sleep at the airport while waiting for my flight.. I have also experienced when the plane left me, i was late and the plane left without me on board.. There was also the time when I thought the time of my flight was in the evening but actually it was in the morning (it was because i did not check properly my flight schedule), and so when i came to the airport there was no available flight..

While I was waiting for a domestic flight to the East Coast at LAX Los Angeles Airport, it was quite a nice surprise when I spotted James Worthy and he sat only a couple seat next to me in the waiting area. That was many years ago and he was already retired from the NBA then. Still, he was very nice and down-to-earth.

I had the similar experience with you but for me it is not the plane but the bus,I was in the way to my bus but due to some reason I can not catch it on time, when I been there the bus had departure, but to my surprise, the Travel company called me and sent a "crown"car to pick me up so that I can catch that bus,it was very great and I think that car was the boss of that travel company.

Apart from probably the dentist, being at an airport is probably one of the most uncomfortable places for me to be in, I am not a good flier, so the build up and anticipation of getting on a plane makes me feel nervous, I don't like crowds and I don't like waiting, when it comes to waiting I have little to no patience. So as for surprises a big NO NO! It's having to get to the airport so early before the flight and the hanging around, then if the plane gets delayed or worse cancelled, you are stuck and trapped. The last time I flew was to Rhodes and fortunately there was no nasty surprises waiting for me in either direction.

been on a flight for few times already but fortunately, haven't had any surprises as of this time. Just some delayed flights for nearly an hour only and that's it. :)

Well, back in 1974 or 75, right after the DFW airport opened, I got fogged in and had to wait HOURS before my flight could leave. Then, in 2007, my mom, brother and I got stuck on the plane, sitting out in some back lot of the, I think, Reagan airport in Washington D.C. for some bizarre and unknown reason. I guess it was just as well since my sister and her friend got caught in the weekend traffic going back to New York from the Jersey shore and was STILL later than we were! It took her almost an HOUR on the Garden State Parkway to go a few miles!

Wow that would be horrible to have to sit in an airport from 7pm to 1am with a 20 month old child just waiting to get on an airplane. I cant stare any experiences because I have never been on a plane before. I am not scared to but dont have the money to travel.

Hi. I always wish a beautiful young woman would sit next to me but it never happens. I guess I had no surprises like you had.

I met my old friend in the last year. It's been a decade when we last keep in touch,. Though I see her in Facebook. That really surprises me. Also, we had the same flight schedule and destination. Good thing, are seated two seats apart, and so, we manage to exchange some good talk. I felt good about meeting her again, there are some things change on her but still, we have those common things that we like. It was destined that we have that experience and that really surprises me until now. Thanks

Obviously it was a real and critical problem. But what can a person do because eversy thing is not in the hand of the person. You can wait only for resolution of the proble.. Therefore there is god.
