hi Philippine Mylotters,
Have you seen the news this afternoon. regarding the demolition..too bad it ended up like that. ended up to cause some residents get hurt, ending up having a riot throwing out
stones and bottles. Some Media People were hurt, Police man, Residents and even those employed by contractors to demolish.
We as Filipinos should understand also, starting a riot to prevent something wont really help. I can understand the settlers that the relocation is too far etc. etc but its been already 3 to 4 years, Government is providing them already assistance, relocation , 24 thousand pesos financial support etc..
I may not be in the position to say this, but we should not blame being Jobless, Helpless, no shelter, etc.. to the government.. We need to work hard to improve our lives.
Well, it may be hard for some but if we only work hard and pray there is no impossible to have a better life..
I hope the residents would be fine since government is willing to give them assistance.

I so agree with you, you can not blame everything to the government. I understand their needs but then at the first place the land is not theirs..right? they should also realize that at one point, the landowner will claim his/her land and they should always be ready to move out.
If i were in their shoes, I will be thankful if I'm a given a house in a relocation area and some cash. Will just have to start a new life there. But of course that's just me.
I hope they be able to settle this thing soon. and that no one will get hurt anymore.

hi cefaz-21, too bad just tonight I saw in the news there are still having some residents who are fighting because their claim yesterday was not supported by the government..
Hopefully they will just settle their living and not to fight again for the right
that legally was never their property.. that is a government property and will be use for a project that would beneficial for a lot of Philippines..
I can understand them that they have been living in the place for 30 years but still its government property...
they should have accepted the assistance and move on and accept the change..
thanks for the reply cefaz.
all the best

I totally agree with you dorothy.
The government has given them enough time already. Now it's the end of the line so they should submit.
Had they evacuated before this demolition this thing wouldn't have happened.
The problem with people is that , they want everything laid to them in a silver platter. It's time that they should do their share of helping themselves too and not just wait for the government to do it for them.

hi Simplyd agree with you too, if they should have listened and take the change last 3 years ago it wouldn't have happened. They have already started their lives in laguna or in the province. Well, I also believe with the change they are taking there are social
workers from the government who assists them.
Lucky them, they are given 24 thousand pesos if they will avail balik probincya assistance program. twenty four thousand in the province is already a big money..
thanks for the reply again..
best regards..

I know there are a lot of people who are living in such a condition, but then we cannot really always blame this on the government. my take is that people should always be out there to want to make their lives easy with work, and not when they get to live freely on someone else's land. the fact they were not paying for anything on the land they were living for years should have saved them up a lot of money to get them their own place, right? but well maybe it is just my opinion...

hi chiyosan, thanks for the reply.. the property is government owned and the residents in that area were already asked to relocate and given assistance like balik probincya with 24 thousand pesos and relocation to laguna.
I hope every thing will be alright and will just move on and accept the change..
too bad those who participated the riot yesterday were jailed its another problem again for them..
thank you again for the response.
all the best

This is really a sad news but you are right. Not all can be blames to the government. Everything has to come from us. We need to be responsible for ourselves and work hard. In this way we can lessen the burden being thrown to the government though the government has a serious responsibility of creating jobs for its people. Change can happen...progress can happen...and it should start from each and everyone of us and stop blaming others instead think about how you can contribute to make life better.

hi msfrancisco, Agree with you.. we are responsible for our own lives.though government can help us..but sometimes I cannot blame for those really unfortunate, I perhaps we are lucky to have good life others seems to born without nothing...:( and they do not have
knowledge on how to go about their lives as long as they can eat in a day its Okey with them...
thanks for the response msfransciso

The residents of Guatemala knew it was coming since they have lost their appeal in court. They should have peacefully removed those usable parts of the homes instead of fighting with the police. They know that they are squatting on private property but they want to claim it as their own. They should not expect everything to come from the government. They need to exert efforts in order to have a better life. I have had a chance to go to at least 3 relocation centers and the places looked fine and peaceful even if it was quite far. The residents seemed to have adjusted. What these people fear is change. They have been so used living in the center of the city that they refuse to be relocated in some far off community. However, it is not actually the place that matters but the efforts at making a better life.

hi yahnee, I totally agree with you.. most of them are afraid of change, as per the news reports if they live in laguna what could be their source of income etc...,
Good news just this afternoon among those 200 families , 150 plus already agree to relocate to laguna and some avail the balik Probincya program..
Thanks for the response yahnee..
