http://ph.news.yahoo.com/prized-pairs-of-shoe-lover-imelda-in-danger.html - not a referral link, i found this link on yahoo news. We all know that Imelda Marcos has a notorious shoe collection, it was show cased in the National Museum..good right? for everyone to enjoy her vanity of shoes.but then on the other hand sad because the shoes are all ROTTING! Neglected! Why would the national museum let this happen? we all know that leather will rot in time if not properly taken cared of right? since it is in their property, they should have taken care of it well.... or should have given it away to those who are in need or auction or something before when it was still usable.

That;'s really sad if indeed those shoes are beginning to deteriorate. Perhaps it's high time that those shoes should be converted into money like that of an ukay-ukay. Right jazel? Hmm, i guess her feet is so big! I am just a 5.

Actually I seen in the news at TFC yesterday night about that controversial shoes. Why national museum neglected such thing they don't know that through that shoes Philippines known over the world and I think included in the Guiness Book of Records. May be the management of museum neglected because they think no money can corrupt from that shoes... should file a complaint against them. Although some of the comfescated asset from Marcoses have been lapidated and neglected around Philippines - I don't know why?

But you can observed everybody in the concern department who handling those shoes are having own alibi and reasons, they forget that they have responsibility towards those things even it is not having good images to our country as a whole.

I don't know but history isn't really our strong suit. And perhaps, it's a bit of payback for tho shoes' owner. It doesn't matter of she wore at a historic event, they still cost more than anybody's shoe collection in their day. I agree that we should just auction them off while retaining the really valuable shoes. Also, any duplicates should be rid off. I mean, who needs 5 pairs of the same shoe design nowadays?

Yes it is just pure vanity. She said that those were just given but then if these were given and she could not use them all, why not just give it right? or sell them and make profit out of it.

Those shoes symbolize 2 types of people in Government, first the one who corrupts and makes lots of money and the second is the negligent and uncaring who leaves assets we already have to rot and waste, I won't wonder why we are still like this up to now long after we gained freedom from the first EDSA revolution

That i do not know, some says it has something to do with the mentality but when i look around us, i see a lot of hard working people. People who still go to work even tho the salaries are low, people who still stand up even tho we were flooded and all sorts of calamities passed by. I guess it has something to do with who are handling the whole country..

They should have taken extra care on those shoes. Those were somehow part of our history. Instead of letting those shoes rot, they should have just put it in auction and us the money for some projects for the street-children or something that would be of help to the Filipinos.

i had heard this news and had read it on the net. it just saddened me that it is rotten and broken. they say that they will find a way to restore it, but i doubt if they can do this. this is an example to our government. just like what had happened to the National Museum. There are a lot of important things in the museum that are not properly taken care. Its really a bad publicity to our country as this may attract many tourism.how sad.

Restoring them would mean more money. They should just have taken cared of it in the first place.

How neglectful these people could be. Just imagine, leaking ceiling! How could they not even maintain the building? How busy are they that they allow the ceiling to leak and destroy things inside? Is not part of their duty to look after the good condition of everything inside the museum? I don't think they are being paid just to sit down all day. Who heads the National Museum? He or she needs to be kicked out. I bet there are more things rotting inside that museum. It has to be examined furthermore

yes and to think museums should be preserving them and not letting them to rot. no wonder our culture is diminishing.. i wonder what is the status of other artifacts in that place.

Hi, The pairs of shoes symbolizes greed at its highest level. Who could wear all of them in one's lifetime, it is at least 10,000 pairs by last count? I find no word to express my dismay over the extravagance while the rest of us lived on almost nothing day in and day out. And yet, the owner of it all is still occupying a high position in the government, earning people's money every month while us honest citizens are crawling at below standard rate of salary for a full day's work. Stupid system, this is. The shoes are best left to rot if they cannot be sold to fill up some corrupt official's pocket, at least they serve as warning to those who live an excessive life.
