I'm an avid reader and I can usually finish 2 - 3 books within a couple of weeks. I'll read pretty much anything that looks interesting except those cheesy romance novels. I do like Danielle Steel though. I don't consider her books cheesy. Anyway, I've recently read 'Hide' by Lisa Gardner, 'The Ring' by Danielle Steel, and I'm currently reading 'The Ranch' by Danielle Steel.
'Hide' was a very interesting book. There were some parts that I didn't like reading because it was a murder mystery book, but it was a good one. Two detectives were looking for a serial killer who seemed to target children. Then somehow a woman got involved because the news said that one of the children who was murdered was her and she knew she wasn't dead obviously. It had an ending that I wasn't quite expecting.
'The Ring' was another good story. I mainly liked it because it had to do with Germany and some of my heritage is from there. I didn't like the parts about the Nazis, but it was from that time period. It had a good ending but I felt that it left me hanging a little bit. I would have liked Danielle Steel to continue the story a bit more. It was sad in some parts but it ended on a happy note. I would recommend both of these books.
What books are you currently reading or just finished reading? Would you recommend them to friends and family?

I have read alot of Danielle Steel's books also. And have seen some of the ones made into movies. Hide huh? Might check it out. I like ones that don't go where you obviously think the writer will take it. I read any of the Dark Shadows series that comes out. Have been a big fan since I was in High school and it was on tv. Maybe Steele will have a sequel. I don't read much. Am on here alot. I used to read but can't keep my mind on it anymore. Infact back in the 70's I used to read two books at a time. One was non-fiction and the other fiction. I just kept note on the non-fiction one. Now I can't read one.

I've never heard of the Dark Shadows series. I'll have to check it out. I can't read two books at a time because it confuses me. Lol I get the details mixed up and can't remember which book they came from. I'm a fast reader so I just stick to one book at a time and finish it fairly quickly. I started reading 'The Talisman' by Stephen King but I just couldn't get into it. I think I stopped reading it after the fifth chapter or so. It just wasn't making any sense.

Yes, some of Stephen King's books are like that. Better to see them in movie form. Dark SHadows was a tv soap-type series on daytime when I was in school back in the 60's. It was made into books and they have continued them lately as well. Pretty good stories if you are into vampires.

I saw a movie called Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp in it. I really liked it. I wonder if it has anything to do with the tv soap?

I recently read Hide and have managed to get my hands on another book by Lisa Gardner that I'm looking forward to reading. I read ALOT and like you, I read pretty much anything but those cheesy romance novels. I read the Hunger Games and was actually surprised by how much I liked it. And even more surprised by how much I enjoyed the movie for that as well.

I would like to read more of Lisa Gardner's books. There are a few book stores near my town so I'll have to check them out. I haven't read the Hunger Games yet but I'd like to. I also want to read the Vampire Diaries. Oh, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sounds like a good one.

The most recent books I have read would be The Hunger Games trilogy. I love reading and haven't been reading like I used to do. I also used to read a lot of Danielle Steel but have not read anything she has written in several years. I should pick up some of her books again.
I have also recently read a historical book called The Curse of the Narrows about an awful explosion set off by the collision of two ships in the waters of Nova Scotia. It's a true story and very sad as well as difficult at times to read. But I read it because it told of an event in history that I had never heard of before, even in school, although it was something that maybe we should have been told about in school, especially since it was such a big explosion and had such an impact not only on Canada but also on the US.
I read from The Bible regularly, and I have library books here all the time as well as a box of books I have not yet read. I really should get to it.

I haven't read The Hunger Games yet (I would like to) but I did see the movie and I enjoyed it. It reminded me of a short story I had to read in elementary school called The Most Dangerous Game.
I just finished the first book in The Night World series. There are three books with three stories in each book. I decided to take a break from them though because they are all tied around the same sort of plot and I was getting a bit bored of it. Now I'm re-reading Inkspell because I just got the third book in the trilogy called Inkdeath and I'd like to re-read them all so I can remember what happens.
