A few days ago the Danish newpapers wrote about a boy who has been hidden in his parents' garage for 4 years. No one except the parents knew that the boy existed, and they had chosen to hide him because they knew that they probably wouldn't have been allowed to keep him if the authories knew that he existed. 6 children have been removed from the home in the past because the family didn't take care of them so when the boy was born they didn't tell anyone about it. The hid the boy in the garage and he never left the garage or talked to other people.
Some days ago the police searched the house, and they found the boy by coincidence They were looking for something different, and when they searched the house they found a huge amount of illegal money. While they searched the house they also found the boy in the garage. The boy was physically and emotionally weak and he was immediately removed from the home.
What are your thoughts about the family and the boy? Did something like that happen in your country as well?

That is such disgusting behaviour. I've not heard anything like this in England although that doesn't mean it hasn't happened, you get sick people like this everywhere unfortunately. I've heard similar and worse stories than this from around Europe and the states. I get that no parent really wants to have a child taken away, but in this case, they clearly have no concept of how to look after another human being. They should know that keeping a child in a garage for 4 years would be severely detrimental to the child. That would be bad for even a dog! They have gotten parenting wrong a previous 6 times, so wrong that authorities had to get involved, so why would they not just think of the lives their future offspring would have and then be more careful not to have children in the first place. They should be jailed!

6 children have already been removed from the home, but I guess they still don't see themselves as bad parents It is hard for me to understand that they hid the child in the garage for 4 years. I understand that they were afraid that the child would be removed from the home, but I don't understand why didn't think about the physical and the emotional health of the child. When their son was discovered he was weak and ill and it has been very harmful for him to live like that. Now the boy was been removed from the house and the parents will probably be charged with child neglect, but I don't know what kind of punishment they will get. I agree with you - they belong in jail.

If the others kids were taken away, why do they insist on having others too?

I don't understand that either. 6 kids were taken away from the home already because they didn't live up to their responsibity as parents. They hid the 4-year-old boy because they thought that the authorities were going to take him away as well. I guess that they don't believe that they are bad parents or maybe they just don't care.

This story if of awful nature considering that a boy was hidden for FOUR years in a garage. That would really result in a traumatic experience and other sorts of emotional disorientations.

Yes, the experience must have been very traumatic for the boy. He was never able to leave the garage and when he was found he had physical as well as emotional problems. He has lived in the garage since he was born and he definately hasn't had a a normal childhood so far. Now he has been removed from the family just like his 6 older siblings, and the parents will probably be charged with child neglect.

It just amazes me at how irresponsible and careless some people can be. This story breaks my heart and I feel so bad for that little boy. I hope the authorities found someone to take good care of him. Maybe since he's so young (I'm assuming he's 4 or 5 years old) he can see a specialist and possibly forget about this experience.
A similar story did happen here in the United States. I've heard a few different stories like this, but the one I remember clearly was of a young girl who was hidden the spare bedroom of her parents' home for nearly 20 years. No one even knew she existed except for the parents. They never once let her leave the home and they kept the windows completely covered. She was 20 years old but she had the mentality of a toddler because no one ever taught her anything. She could barely speak and she couldn't read or write. Later on, the authorities discovered that her father had been molesting her since she was a child. It was just a traumatic time for her and I never heard if she got any help or not. After they found out what happened, it was like they stopped talking about the whole thing.

Yes, the boy is 4 years old today. He was immediately removed from the home and hopefully he will get a good home somewhere and get help. Before he was removed from the home he never left the garage at all and he was physically weak and had emotional problems when he was found. It is a very sad story, and people wonder how the parents managed to hide him for 4 years. The story about the young who was hidden in her parents' bedroom for 20 is even worse. I feel so bad for her, it must have been absolutely horrible to live that way. I can't even imagine what it is like to go through something like for nearly 20 years.
