Dress code for twins

Thanks for this discussion. I have twin grand sons, my daughter in law, their mother dresses them differenly and combs their hair differently too.

Identically dressed twins are as cute as can be, but I think it would be better to let the children choose what they want to wear (within reason). They may choose to dress alike (Possibly to fool the teacher) or they may not. Many mothers just buy two of everything to avoid the appearance of partiality.

I personally feel that it is super cute when twins wear clothes that are similar when they are very small. However, as they start to get older, I don't really feel like it is quite as cute when they are dressed alike all the time. I do believe that there might be times that twins want to dress alike as they are getting older, but I don't believe it is going to be something that they are going to want to do all the time. For example, my best friend has twins and now that they are preschoolers, they don't dress alike all the time, but there are times that their mother does dress them the same way.

Identical twins really are cute when wearing the same clothes. But of course when they are already grown up, it is not cute anymore. It is for the reason that the twins already have their own preferences and choices. Like what other mylotters said, even though they are identical in appearance still they differ in many aspects of their lives.

I find it fun dressing twins in identical clothes. But I agree that they should wear whatever they want, when they are already grown up. But it does not necessarily mean when they grow up, they will hate wearing identical clothes. I know of a pair of twin brothers, that sometimes still wear same clothes, especially when they are out together.

My friend Tony has a pair of twin sister. I visited Tony's family frequently when I was in junior high school. I seldom distinguished the twin sister. They don't wear the same clothes but seem to be one person in apearences, in their voices. I wondered how their family recognize one from the other. So everytime I see twin children around, I admire the god. Although I can't say the differences between twins, I insist they are different from each other at least in personalities. What I wanna say is everyone in the world is unique, everyone has his/her own thoughts and ideas, everyone lives their own live,so as the twin children. And the parents of twins should have realized this. I think parents isist their twins wear the similar clothes maybe because they think the children are very good-looking together with the similar clothes. If it's this reason, I think it's ridiculous. Children ought to be able to have their own opinoins including what they like wearing.

I have twin cousins, and they always wore the same clothes when they were growing up. I knew that they didn't like it, but my Auntie and Uncle decided that it was cute so they were dressed in the same way until they were around ten. Once they started choosing their own clothes they wouldn't wear the same things because they were just desperate to show that they had their own personalities and that they were two separate people rather than one joint person as a lot of people seem to think when they see twins.

I think it is kind of cute to dress twins the same clothes but as they grow, I think it would be funny. If I had twins, I would do that when they were little like newborn - 3 or 4 years old. But I wold get what they prefer to wear when they are bigger.

Hi, If I have twins, I would not dress them alike even at a young age to help me determine which is which. It is hard to tell one from the other especially when they are identical and dressing them alike would aggravate the problem. I would give each one a color code if they don't mind when grown up and I would let them have their own preferences to identify them even in a crowd.

Well I notice it to twins when they are kids but as they grow, they eventually have different likes and they are the one who choose what clothes to wear. It looks cute to twins that are still kids yet quite odd when they are old.

I agree with you, that just because they look a like doesn't mean they should dress a like. I'm sure that would depend upon the child if they want to dress identical or not. So I suppose I would wonder at what age does a child decide that? Maybe I would dress them in the same colors, but I don't know. Maybe people think that it's cute to dress them up the same,they want them to be "totally" identical. Good discussion!

Hello I have twin older sisters. When they still young the used to wear same clothes from head to toe but they have different personalities. Perhaps the reason why parents let them wear identical items because it looks so cute. As twins grow old they can dress what ever clothes they want.

I agree I think forcing your children to dress identical is limiting their ability to express their personalities.
