We rearraged the guest room

Well, after we got the bed together, we realized it was bigger than we thought it was. Now, this room is small, 8x10, so we had to rethink how to arrange it.
I said that one of the tall bookcases would fit against the wall beside the bed if the bed was along the long wall. The roomie doubted it, but it did fit, perfectly.
However... that does make the other tall bookcase kind of probable... we might turn them so they are against the short wall, the one that needs to lean a bit, leaning on the other tall bookcase... We'll see...
We are also talking about rearranging the blind roommate's room so things fit a bit better, but that will mean having to measure that room extensively...
I kind of don't think she's seeing it quite right. I "eyeballed" the other room and "fitted" that bookcase without measuring and was right - I don't think the arrangement she's thinking will work. Maybe with a few adjustments...
So, as the guest room stands right now, the curtains are hung! (YEAH!!!) and the bed is in a good place.
Its not showing the picture, I hope it posts...

hi elicbxn sadthe picture did not come out.some times you have
to try several different positions of the furniture to get what
you really want. But its really satisfying when you get just
the perfect arrangement and yes at least the curtains are hung.
good luck on your arrangements.,

Hey, Hatley, I do not understand how you posted a comment if the picture was not there. I guess this is a mylot glitch this time. A full view with the book cases might be interesting. I do not suppose they could go in the corner together could they, at right angles? When I have had kind of "unsquare" book cases that had no back I have given them backs. I have even used lattice and attached to the back to continue with a lighter look but give them structure.

It may not have shown before, but the picture is showing now. The walls looks purplish pink but it is hard to tell with the glare from the lighting.

no nothing is too big that can be replaced, I have my long dresser full of clothes that I cannot put in my room and it is very annoying, I cannot fit a dresser in my room, I will have to get clothes bins or something like that.

Hi there, Winterose.
Is there any chance you can get smaller furniture so you can arrange them in other way that is more comfortable and refreshing ?
Maybe you will find out there were parts of the current furniture that you didn't use and just take space ? For example, maybe the T.V table is too big and you can replace it with a smaller one ? Maybe the closet is too big and you don't use all of it's volume so you can replace it with a smaller one ?
If you do so, you will be able to rearrange the furniture in a more comfortable way, easier to wash the floor, walking and etc...

Hi Elic, you've gotten a lot done lately! You're on a roll! I wish I could say that but since mom's passing, I've got even more to do and like I've told a friend, I'll get it all done - one day at a time..... one day at a time. However, good for you and your progress!

Cats, I know what you are talking about.
in 1998, when my mom moved out of her house, she had to go from a 3 bedroom house to a one bedroom apartment, a LOT of stuff when places, some stuff stayed in the family but others had to go.
When mom moved from her apartment to the health care center we again had to downsize, from a one bedroom apartment to half a room. This was a little easier, I actually only came home with a very few things, my brother got most of the rest.
I pity the poor person who has to clean out my place (and the 6 sheds!)

[b]I know you too well to think you don't have a Master Plan for all this, so...when you gonna tell ME what your goal is, hey?

good one, must be looking better and fresh now. I do rearrange the furniture in the house every now and then whenever I feel like. It makes it refreshed and nice and new. I feel happy for the change. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead

I need to get busy with some rearrangement, but some of it has to wait at least a year until son moves out. Your bed with the futon is quite handy for guests and will make them feel welcome.

Picture posted all right. But it begs the questions, how does one open the curtains and how does one access the top bunk, now?

It looks good from what I can tell, not sure what to suggest about the book cases. I worry that one leaning against the other might make the one supporting the other weaker over time. I guess I am thinking of the cheaper book cases though, and that may not be the case at all...
I wish I could rearrange but really no way to do so. There is way too much stuff in this house right now, too much to even think about.. I used to love rearranging though and would "eyeball" measurements and most of the time it fit, even if a bit snug.

I used to love to rearrange the furniture. It seemed like everything was new when it was in a new place. Now, it is too much work for me, and thing have to be the way they are, so I can get past with my walker. I kind of envy you, it ws so much fun changing things and then the satisfaction after it was done.

My house is so small the furniture can only be one way for me to have enough room to get by. I also probably have to much furniture for how little my place is. My bathroom is soo small, that I can't take it in there. I leave it outside the door and hold onto the vanity.

If I was living in my own home, having my own furniture, I would get small furniture and arrange them in a way that will take advantage of the light from the windows, I would make them blocking the floor so dust and bugs won't get under them.
I would also try to arrange the furniture in a way that will give me enough space to wash the floor and walk around the house.

Did you talk it over about rearranging the blind roomates room?. Im not completelyblind and if people rearrange things I trip over them, and I can still see to a point (I still drive LOL). I would be fuming if someone moved things around, I know people have done it to me in the past, until I kept hitting things, and tripping over this or that.

We would've talked to her about it IF we had done it, but I was correct with my "eyeball" judgment that it would work the way the roomie thought it would so it isn't happening.
The roomie is also visually impaired, so bad that she can't drive, so we know about rearranging things on blind folks!
