You do not call me at 8 am if you know what's good for you

I was already awake mind you because of stomach cramps, but that is no excuse. I keep getting this call at various times of the day, well I answered it this time fully aware that it could be a recording. Either way I said "DO NOT CALL ME AT 8 AM" and hung up.
Well I called back, it just said "card services" and "If you'd like to be put on our do not call list yadda yadda yadda". Needless to say I put myself on it BUT, I also called back a few minutes ago and the first things out of my mouth when I got a human was "You will not like me very much by the end of this conversation."
No I didn't give them all my fury but I did tell them that it's 8:00 in the morning in the east coast of the USA and that some people are still sleeping. That they need to talk to whoever calls or programs it to call... I also kind of said a bad word, but I did say "have an awesome day" albeit in a mean sarcastic tone.
I plan to call again and be more civil.
When do you think is the appropriate time to start calling people? I say 10 am is the best bet. At 10, even if they aren't awake they aren't going to be so mad that you called, but most people ARE awake or waking up...
I'm not, lol I don't get up until 11:30, but I wouldn't be as mad if people call me at around that time.

i hate to be called at anytime by companies who have obtained my number to let me know about services they offer ect. I especially hate them because after saying your not interested they still manage to call you back several times over anyway. half the time even asking to be taken off their lists just doesn't work and they continue to call anyway. As for the time that's ok to call i would say 9am is reasonable since most places start to operate around this time, but i for one am never pleased when they call, especially if its an automated service, they could at least have the decency to have the real person on the phone.

I think that a lot of companies have several agents that say handle a certain amount of people. Say five to ten people handle peoples whose last name starts with An A all the way to the letter H... So that being said, it's a possibility that ten people call you. Though one may agree never to call you again, there are nine others to contend with after that.
The "do not call" list I put myself on was of course for clients of the company, I was not one of the clients but then I didn't know that at the time because it was only upon talking to a human that I found out what company was calling me to begin with.

I am not generally a morning person, so if they wanna wake me up at 8am and I am not already awake, they may be in for a surprise. Most of my friends know to come with coffee in hand

It's funny because I can be very nice to friends, though they've dealt with me grumpy in the morning as well. I suppose it's because they know to be quiet mostly and let me wake up first.
It's other people, family who may bother me, or calls like I got.

Well it was my cellphone as there is no home phone anymore. I don't know how they got my number but I suppose it must be somebody else they were looking for. It was chase card member services and I don't have a card with them.

At home the calls are made during 9am and 9pm and that is okay with me. No other calls unless it is family. I keep my cell on vibrate as I do not want to be woken up by anyone before or after the hours stated. I hope that you are feeling better. I used to hate getting stomach cramps and fortunately after the birth of my first child they ceased

I explained in another discussion what the "stomach cramps" actually are... I need to do something about it but feel mixed on that. I suppose I was grumpy for being woken up, I feel better now and sort of feel bad for yelling at the person, well sort of as I wasn't yelling yelling, but nonetheless.
I guess I should have put my phone on silent, but I tend to do that and forget to take it off.

I am definitely not someone to mess with at 8 am, that's for sure. I just let my mouth talk without any filter.

I absolutely agree with you, 10am is the best time to call people. Any earlier is so rude! Most people do sleep until about 9-10am.
I have had a recording calling me for 3 weeks straight looking for someone else. I finally gave them a piece of my mind the other day. They would call all times of the day and night looking for some person named Angela. I called and told them, this is NOT her number, take me off the calling list and do not ever call this number again!!! One day they called at 6am!! I was FURIOUS! I do not get up that early and I don't want anyone calling at that time unless it is an emergency...

I finally found out who the call was for after they called again at one pm yesterday. Now I know they said it could take up to thirty days but I was still irritated at getting a call AGAIN the same day.
So I called, and had to yell some more but finally got someone in the USA who was very nice and understanding and told me the name of the person they are looking for. I told her to expedite my number off that list.

8 am is fine if they call me. If I am still sleeping I will be upstairs where I will not hear the phone ring anyway. I got a call the other night at 8:45 pm and I think that is to late to call someones house for these stupid telemarketing people. I think really they should wait until at least 9am before calling peoples homes but I assume they call early trying to get people in the morning before work etc.

I had my cellphone in the bedroom with me as I was charging it. Most of the time I keep my cellphone with my wallet and so I don't hear the calls, but today was an exception. I can understand calling people before they head out for work, but at the same time I also feel it's disrespectful. A lot of people here in the USA may start work at 8 am or their day atleast, but the same amount of people also work the night shift instead, or second shift where they don't usually wind down until 1 am and don't usually wake up until 11 am etc...

A working day at the office will start over here between 7.30 and 8.30 am. So I guess it's normal to start with your work. Schools start between 8 and 8.30 am as well so I guess to many people it's normal to start calling. I don't find it normal. Not before 10 am someone should call you and also not after 5 or 5.30 pm. I always learned it's also impolite to call during breakfast, lunch or dinner time and not after 8 pm calling family/friends etc unless it's need. Same during weekends. People need their rest/privacy. But I guess times are changed or? BTW I would not call anyone back like you did also not keep calling back explaining or whatever. I don't think they care about that.

They may not care but supposedly "Your call may be recorded for quality assurance" if they in fact are, most likely the results come back to either the US or go to the specific office head at that specific place. It made me feel better and that is why I did it. When I called back a few moments ago I was much nicer, but I also didn't wait for a response again.
No over here we start school and work at around the same time as in the Netherlands for you, and our guidelines are also respectful to not call past 8 pm etc. Telemarketers and the such seem to be bad about calling at or around dinner time, however it has gotten better over the years.

Well, I use to work midnights, and I would tell companies or people to call me at 2am . I use to get calls all day long, people I knew not to wake me up because they knew if I woke me up I would out of bed, at their front door p*ssed. But companies I would scream at them, and usually that was the last call. I told them I would call them at 2am see how they like it, and one rep goes noone is up at that time. I go really I'm on my break at work, I don't mind calling you and waking you up since you just woke me up at my *2am* and hung up. I filed a complaint against her, and flipped on them so they always sent me emails after that. Even now after being off nights for a year, they call in the late after usually between 7pm - 10pm for me. I know a few weeks ago the doctors office called about my blood work at 8am (I'm not usually up, and if I am I'm not home). When I called back just kindly told her, usually I'm not in a hurry to get my blood work so if she could put me on the bottom of the list to call and they do now.

I will flip at people who call me tht early UNLESS they are my friends or family. My family tends to not call me that early though and neither do my friends unless it's an emergency. I've even been known to yell "WHAT" into the phone AT co-workers who woke me that early. Of course when I saw them next I apologized and just said I do not wake up so early.
Doctor's offices, it wouldn't bother me if I get a call though I would tell them that I was "asleep".
I can be a real B!tch if people wake me up though, one the phone or not.
