Its been 10 years since I graduated from college, I have worked in many places, commute to work everyday by public transport then a car, getting experience being critic by employer and gossip done by workmates. I just feel I am tired and off mood to handle this anymore. Like I should have go to work last 2 months that I promised myself but I did not go and I still hanging out at home, I just think that the time for me to work outside has stop and now its time for me to earn at home. What do you think? Do you think I should continue to work outside even though I feel home is better or work at home with smaller salary? I been quite upsetting coz I paid back money to my boss last month, because I don't finish the work, I want to be flexible and not commitment to anybody except myself and my family.

Yeah, anything can happen nowadays like what to do when your boss seducing you, call you at night, or talk to their friends about you, what to do with you somemore, aren't you scared? For me, that is why I want to stay at home, further girls/woman get marry soon and rely on their husband, although nowadays many single woman out there, but I just want to assume that I am still a virgin girl, not so brave when facing such circumstances, you too, I hope you can find a good soulmate and work at home, outside is unpredictable.

hi there wongchoiyee,
with reference to your query, i somehow feel your pain. that due to a lot of issues, your passion to go out for work had diminished. anyway, doing work at home jobs is also good. and you can also get a good income from here. only you really need a lot of perseverance as the ups and downs of starting this jobs is really at stake. however, if this is your passion, then go and strive for it. for sure, you will reap the success that you are striving for.

I have realized it not worth it and ruins my health, at present already have depression not because of this but long time ago, a fybroid, now I am not dare to risk my health anymore, you know, I need time for my family and friends too. That is why I am choosing this route.

You should do whatever you feel is right and not what others dictate you to. If you would force yourself to work and be employed, that would only make you unhappy and not be productive.
Working from home is not bad and working with yourself as a boss is even better!

I was forcing myself to go to work each day until I realized why should I do that? Isn't it there is another way out? There must be.

hello wongchoiyee,
I can understand not wanting to work in a office type environment, as an employee, I never liked it much, myself.
But the big question then is what you do instead. Earning money just writing on the internet is limited, but there are other ways through self employment, that you can earn money.
Another mylotter started a discussion about why men become hair stylist, and i answered that part of the reason was the opportunity for self employment.
There are ways you can work for yourself, and be based at home, but you need a skill to sell, have you thought about what you find interesting, or are good at, that you could sell to other people, while working at home?
you could do it a bit of reading on becoming self employed and starting your own business, and see if you find any ideas, or may be get your own ideas through thinking about it.

here in the uk there is an organisation called business gateway, that helps people who want to become self employed, and they hold free events you can go to to find out more information. is there anything like that available to you, as meeting other people who want to work for themselves is a good way of thinking about what you can do.

If you feel that there is no more room for growth in your office, and you feel like dragging yourself out of the bed every morning to go to work, then look for another company. I'd suggest you do it while you're still employed.
If however, you want to work at home using the internet, it's okay too. Not much money at first but after a while and you have the necessary experience, money will come. Get all the expertise that you can from your current job and use it to your advantage.
A word of caution though, working at home can be more demanding than an offline job. You might end up working more than 8 hours a day as I'm experiencing right now. This is true especially if the job is project based. As in other jobs, you can earn more if you put more effort.
If you want to be really flexible, then be your own boss. Don't work for someone because they will take flexibility out of the equation. Just focus on yourself and your family.
Good luck!

Even I feel that the 24 hours a day is not enough, but I still want to do it as it is my dream to become my own boss.

Well, it's all up to you. If you are really unhappy with your job, and you hate commuting, then you might want to try something else. Try to find something better. I applied for several jobs last Spring and Summer, and I had a job for the summer and one for this fall that are close to home, and where I don't have to travel far at all, but I really don't mind the drive. I love working away from home because when I am at home, sometimes, I can feel depressed, and getting out helps me to combat that depression. I also feel like I am doing something and contributing something.

In fact I don't like working at present. But I have to go to work anyway since I want to have a better finance for my family. You know today everything's price keeps rising. And it is better to have more money in case of any accidents. Working at home sounds to be ideal, however, the income is quite little and usually not stable. If you have to take care of your child because nobody can help you, then working at home will be fine.

If you can afford to stay at home without having to borrow money from anybody then I don't see the problem in doing this. When I have children, I would very much like to be able to take some time out of my job to look after them, and I don't think that I am going to be going to work until they are at school. If you can work at home and still earn a little money then this might be a good compromise for you, I do understand that it can be annoying at times to have to use public transport every single day to commute to work as it feels as though you don't get enough time to yourself.

Yes it is very annoying commuting to work each day, when you have done it for 10 years, its time for me to move on to another phase of life.

If you are able to find a way to work at home where you are able to actually support yourself, then I really feel like that is the way to go. However, if you are not able to support yourself from the work that you are doing at home, then I think that there isn't any other choice than to find a job outside the house and work for someone else because you have to be able to support yourself. It is much better to deal with a job that you don't like and not have to live in poverty than to have to live in poverty because you don't want to deal with some things that are unpleasant.

hello mylotter, its up to you what do you think you feel comfortable with. There are some people who prefers to work outside home, commuting, having the boss to follow and others. And some prefers to stay at home, having business at home, or working online at home. For me i prefer the latter, because that is what im doing now. And at the same time my time for my family is not affected bec. im at home. Im have a business running here and at the same time doing. If you want, you can try . I have a link in my profile which you could check it.

Hi! I hear you as it is a bit surprising to be back in the workforce again. As it is the holiday season and if this interests you, why not try Seasonal employment if you can find the right employer? It is short term but it's a good way to earn some extra cash for the holidays and it'd be a great way to see if you fit in that kind of environment. Having done it a few times myself, you do have to have good tact, put your best manners forward, and do wear comfortable shoes!!!
Just an idea. :-)

dear Wong
same as your problem,I've worked at my company is now nearly 10 years old but there is no progress for the welfare of employees, salaries or allowances just simply used a quarter of the month, after it was finished ... my journey from work to the plant as far as 60 km, wearing motorcycle....Ironically....I could not resign because it hampered the issue of age, most companies want employees who are young and low wages

Whereever we go, whatever we do, self respect or freedom of mind must not be devalued or trodden and must be upheld. We must have not bartered away our relax or recreation of mind. Friendly working environment is so important in our lie.

That is right! There must be freedom of speech and thinking, but somehow working at those places diminished my passion and freedom.

If you have all the financial needs to start your own business then I suggest that you should start it now.
If you are not comfortable working with other people, then maybe business is the best thing for you.

it depends on your needs, if you have enough money that you are not required to do work then don't.

Hi friend, said to hear that you paid money to your boss for your incomplete work, there is nothing wrong in working from home if you got a good salary from it as well as you are interested with it, as you mentioned you are not comfortable with office job, so you can continue this kind of home jobs

I doesn't experienced a very long period of time working outside. But i know how hard it is to travel always, to leave home early then you arrive home very late if you are working from afar. I learned that working at home is more convenient. you have your own flexible time and you are the boss of your own bussiness. What matters to me is that while i am earning i am able to supervise my child as he grows. and i am happy with that.So whatever you think will make you happy then you should go for it that way.

Hi, I'm in the same boat. I'm just so tired with the vicious cycle of being an employee but I felt that nothing really significant happens in my life. I just could not see this same cycle happening to me in the next 10 years so I decided to just stay and earn from home. Now I'm happier and more relaxed:) I just love my life now, I feel that I own it this time. Whatever would make you happy, go for it! Good luck!
