was a question I had seen asked and thought I'd ask what the thoughts were on here. Now I would answer that question with one simple word. COMMUNICATION with parents! I have two kids who get special education for reading and staying on task. Now I've found it frustraiting to have a regular teacher as well as a special ed teacher not tell you what is happening in the classroom other than 2x a year at parent teacher confrences and then drop a bomb on you that your child is not doing this or that. So my vote would be communication.
And no I don't mean to start this thread as a bash thread either. I want to know how the teachers in your life could make things go smoother for yourself or your children?

Normally in my daughter school we met their teachers every time we have
to get their report card. The teachers require us to go to school to have
some talk about the performance of our kids. Sometimes the teachers have
their problem when the guardian don't have concern with their kids and
don't attend meetings.

I've heard of that happening too or the parents can't get there for whatever reason. I have a friend who is a teacher (I hate bugging her bout stuff) and she gets urked about the few who do actually who do actually show up for confrences.

I would just write a note to the teachers and say you'd like regular updates and let them know the best way to send you such updates.
I can't really think of anything I'd like our teachers to do, but my kids don't have any special needs in any academic areas. If you ask some of my kids.. they'd say they want more homework! My oldest would say less work.

That's a good idea.
My kids don't want more homework they want free time to do what they please especially the oldest.

Yes I agree, I went to a parents meeting once to find out that my son had not completed 17 homework assignments. I was so angry with the teacher who had not informed me.

This is an age old problem with teachers. I think with elementary kids the teachers should have a monthly progress report in a booklet form or something and the kids carry it in their book bags to their parents for them to sign. Then the teacher gets them back from the kids. Or make it even simpler? Have the parents email addresses and send out notices that way and ask for feedback.

The oldest does have an assignement book that needs to be signed daily. However the teacher just writes "OK :) " as a response if you put a comment. Never e-mailing you or contacting you and it's annoying. The teachers have asked for our e-mail as well this year still didly squat for responses.
