I have been hearing of senatorial bets for about a week now in the news and frankly, I am sick of it. I cannot believe that some political parties are more busy finishing their slates rather than concentrating on the problems of the country. Sure, they need to prepare for the elections but I don't think politics should be covered like its the only news of the day. It's even more frustrating with surveys, which makes my belief firmer that it's just plain popularity contests leading to the election. No platform yet but already assured of some Senate seats.
As usual, the line for many parties consisted of old names ad old faces, old names with new faces and hardly new faces and new names. But then again, as a party official said, it's all about the winability and not actual public service.
I guess I am not viewing the news for a few more days . I don't think I can hear more about d survey ratings. At least, we're already aware of those people fighting like children for a seat. Let the mud-slinging and the tarpaulin-hanging begin

You know, friend. Old or new faces in the line up of senatorial candidates are all the same. Those aspiring in the senate are all politician, they not old enough in that particular career. New or young member of the senate, is the same as those old member. They don't do anything good for the country but fighting and investigating only.
There are many corruption cases bring up in front of the senate but there is no results being heard.
That surveys is a way to corrupt the mind of the people. That part alone is a way of corrupting our mind. Then what happen next...they want to show with us. That those people first in the survey are good politician?
Really disappointing with those senators, in the country. They are not doing something good for this country to be good and progress. They are the law makers and have all the right to make laws to make this country to be strong and wealthy...

We can't reform the system of government if those in politicians did not reform with themselves.
It's election fever again and look who's running in the government position. They are still the politician that make this country worse. There are many chances for this country to be in progress but what are they doing?
They are still make promises...their promise last year is still the promise they say again.
We need a leader that is strong like the late President Marcos, to make this country to be proud and be respectful...
All the island that is near the Philippines, will be go to the Chinese, and we can't do something to depend our sovereignty because we are too weak...

Wow. You pretty much summed up all the things I wanted to say in your response. I think I could not add any more in your idea.
I really think that we should give a real and consistent effort in reforming the system and the people we place in it before we could really call it a change. Thanks for the response, very insightful and direct.

I don't believe in these surveys, i think they are just manipulating the people on whom should be winning the election. because the best of them doesn't always win the election, it's always the stupid, arrogant and people who are there because there because their popular. but i wouldn't mind gordon and magsaysay winning the senate race, i like to see these two debate in future sessions if they win hehehe

I don't believe in them too.but many people do and it causes a ripple effect.many people vote with the majority since they tihnk their own choices have no winning chance.Even though surveys do pre-conditioned the mind of the voters, its still a good toll for politicians who want to run. It's bad enough that these results are blared to the media for all the world to hear.

it's always the stupid, arrogant and people who are there because there because their popular. [/b] Cannot help but agree. Then we suffer later.

Well what is new about our politics. For now, I just ignore this news about the lineups since I know they are just trying to condition the minds of the voters to show that they are a strong party to contend to.
I will definitely vote for when the time comes but for now, I know I will just turn a deaf ears on the news about politics because they are all noise. I just hope the tarps would be limited and should be strictly regulated by Comelec. It is a problem for them to really control this especially when the place has tight competition and there are many contenders around. They are forced to go into such to be able to float amongst their competitors.

Nothing is new. But the Aquino regime is demanding changes. I just don't know how much is the degree of its effectiveness.
I agree. But sometimes, I cannot have any substantial news. Thank heavens for online newspapers, at least I can pick which stories I can read and ignore the political babble.

And the worst thing about Philippine Politics is that the new faces were already corrupted by the old politicians. Not even the righteous people can win another term in the office (example were Goc. Panlilio & Gov. Grace Padaca). During their first try, they surely won the election, but the last one, they both lose. It only means that our countrymen were not mature enough in choosing our leaders. And now, new faces are entering the politics, but these faces were wife, sons, daughters, and relatives of the old ones.

Thanks for pointing this out. I hope that after the demise of Robredo, some people will actually brave the waters of politics with good intentions. But I guess it is a trapo's domain. Just look t the party line-ups and you can almost connect the predecessor to the successor.

In Philippines expected all candidates will do their usual and unusual action in order to regain their popularity to win. May be not at all candidates but if you can see all aspiring candidates are from old and old faces.....

I only means that progress in the electoral process has not yet improved. I really wish some people will vote for the guys who really deserve it and not just because they have a recognizable surname.
