Do you agree that women are more criticized when they cheat?

I noticed that when women cheat they are more criticized compared to men. They are being named with nasty names and a bad mother. Their mistake is often remembered and their husband or boyfriend gets sympathy like they are a saint. While when guys cheat people treat it like it's just a normal thing to do. This is just my observation. It might be different in your society or culture or what so ever.

There is that double standard of morality. It is always accepted by the majority that the man can have flings and indiscretions while the woman can't. That is why many men persist on cheating on their wives or girl friends because they believe it is just normal for them to do so. No matter how hard women fight for equal rights, it has not reached a point where indiscretion would be considered as normal. For me personally, both men and women should remain faithful to avoid hurting the feelings of one another. This will perhaps reduce the number of divorces and failed marriages.

I have a story for you. A man in a ministry at church couldn't keep himself away from women. He and his wife split up, and SHE was criticized for gaining weight! That was the reason some of the mans friends gave (a woman, no doubt) for his cheating. He was forgiven, she was ostracized. Even worse, he did not pursue an annulment, got married somehow (but not legally through the church) and the parish accepted it, and even put an anniversary date in the bulletin. Meanwhile, according to our faith because he did not seek an annulment, he is still bound to the other wife.
The same woman that defended him, also picked on me for being late for church. It seems there is a general hatred for the feminine in our society, both from men and women. I have observed women defending men, even rapists, and degrading the woman who was attacked.
The modern womens liberation movement has done nothing to help us be equal in stature to men. If anything, I think it has made us more servitude than ever.

I've even read studies that show that women cheat more then men. How can that be? Most women cheat with men, so it's just a double standard. Women are called nasty names, but it's "manly" for a man to cheat. Go figure...

Women are more susceptible to being called unspeakable names if they decided to cheat..
Maybe they think that men are in higher hierachy than women do..Even back in the day women are considered centerfold by men where that maybe makes them less classy..
Maybe women are expected to be meek and obey their husbands because they are breadwinners in their home..It changes the way men look at women..

Yes I must agree that is a true statement. But when men cheat, they are not criticize the same way. Sometimes women cheat because the way men treat them and also make them feel. Women have the same right and ability to do the thing that men does. Like the old saying says 'We have learned from the master'. What goes around comes around. :)

Its true. Extacly, that's also my observation. But it doesn't matter here. Cheating is cheating. Whether you're a man or woman, you are given consequences on what you do. And you must face that consequence. If it became unfair, its your fault.

Yes. Women are more criticized if they are found cheating.
It is because women are not expected by society to cheat on their spouses.
It may be unfair to say that "men are by nature polygamous" that is why it is more acceptable if men cheat.

yeeah you are so right and i think it the same all over the world. I don't know why people see a women with disgust if she has cheated her husband. The world has been said to have been modernized and this is so not modern of people. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

I find it intresting, because offhand, many men get attacked if the woman is loyal and/or has kids with the guy.
Otherwise it isn't a big deal in other mens eyes.
And its sad to see, because the scope of the american society is heavily dominated by mens intrests. Its often you notice on tv girls always fighting one another, while on the other hand, men usually sick side by side.

Hi,
Yes, you might be right but havn't you noticed that the woman that the guy had been having fling with is also attacked as much as the guy who cheated. That's another thing I also noticed that when a guy is caught cheating and the women are fighting over him he just step aside like a puppy, why is that? :P :))
