I don't like to respond to sayings, do you?

I have been noticing that people are putting just some saying which they copy and paste from somewhere and nothing is related to anything in their life or a real story to back up the sayings. I get upset with these discussions. I don't mind one or two but people are flooding such discussions. I feel a waste of time even opening them. Have you felt the same? do you like sayings and discussions?\\ Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

lonlyheart11 welcome to mylot. we are meeting for the first time. this made me know you are 92 years old. Perhaps you may be the oldest in terms of age. thanks. Some members are good to identify plagiarising by identifying the source. many others cannot. We members are the people to guide the mylot team-- we can identify such discussions and refer to them with details. Who introduced you to mylot? Hope this is your first account with mylot!

Well, we all have different preferences and interests. While I find some sayings interesting, I can understand what you mean on this. Personally, I also don't like the discussions which would copy some sayings or quotes, then ask, "what do you think of this?" I would however appreciate it if the thread started would tell something as to how, why and what happened to him/her that such saying became so significant.

I agree with raine. Yes. people can narrate their experience before or after the quote or proverb and substantiate the posting of discussion. Even this discussions some of such members may not like. but you are doing a service by initiating this discussion. all attempts are aimed at improving the quality of discussions in our lot mylot. good day.

hi riyauro and ravi and Raine just remember that copying and pasting articles that are copyrighted is both breaking my,lot frule but is breaking US law, the law against plagiarism. It's actually stealing someones work from them . Mylot does not allow that you need to read the work and put it into yo ur ownl words. You can quote rom it copy a snippet and explain this but do not copy the whole copyrighted work at all

I just pass over them. If they are clearly plagiarising, I report them but otherwise I assume that Admin will deal with them as he sees fit. From time to time we do get people who 'flood' with loads of useless "discussions" and they either give up and go away when they get no responses or they get removed for guideline violations. They are annoying, I agree, but the best thing to do is to ignore them and hope that they will eventually give up when they discover that it's not as easy to earn here as they had thought.

Hi! Many mylotters use the 'cut and paste' method and they not only paste some proverbs or sayings but the paste 'news items' and then start it as a discussion. This reminds me about one mylot friend. She used to do like it (cut and paste method) and ultimately she left the site. She would ask me if I do the same. I would tell her that I tried her that I believe in starting my original posts rather than copying it from somewhere. If any 'saying' is related to any of our experience and we could share it, then I do not mind responding the discussion.

I really respond to those discussions that really interests me. I really admire those people here that really exerts their effort to formulate their discussions and not by using the copy and paste advantage. I admit I'm guilty of this sometimes but I'm doing my best now to give new and fresh ideas so others can relate and respond to it. Thanks for this discussion.

hi riyauro I do not like to try to respond to an idea uness its'brought into play on some issue. then I can respond with my own thoughts on the issue and the saying. But the saying has to be in context with the issue brought up

Yes. now many people frame sentences or give the proverb only and ask what is your view? for example see this link: http://creativeproverbs.com/nz01.htm It has proverbs of many countries. the first one I saw from New zealand is Turn your face to the sun and shadow will fall behind you. Incidentally what is the meaning of this?

Although I like to read of a new saying if it is applid to a normal discussion where the person`s point of view is shared with us, I don`t see the value of posting a saying as the only subject of the post. I guess we can all chech that at the web, should we be interested in that. I just don`t answer posts thta I`m not interested in, even if my friends started it.

People base their entire lives on such sayings, and so they might be giving you a founding-stone of their lives when they respond with sayings. It gives you a chance to help them be surer of their lives' founding-stones by helping them analyze what those saying really mean at-root.

riyaauro: Yes. I have also noticed this trend by people from various countries. What they do --they go to an internet page -- proverbs, quotes, quotations, experiences --like this and then copy the same. I also do not respond for majority of such discussions. The point is they just post the quotes or proverbs and do not add their views also. however since a few are started by our friends -- I will answer one in five of their discussions. It will be interesting if people post based on their experience, reading, listening, watching, adding their views, observations regarding the same.
