Only good troll is a dead troll!!

Trolls are not welcome on myLot by anyone who actually likes the site. I wish there was a way to detect and deal with them easily. I know several victims here besides myself. It is discouraging to watch your star take a tumble. Thankfully I have friends here who plus me up at every reasonable opportunity. It doesn't do the really dramatic drops it did a couple of times here. Anyone who responds to anything I comment on gets a plus from me.

Trolls have been a problem on mylot for as long as i can remember, some of them in the past were particularly nasty to certain members. they rounded on them like a pack like they were partaking in some bizarre bloodsport. mylot seem a lot more on the ball these days and reporting them would seem the best option. As many people have said already, the "-" button needs to go and why mylot have not acted on this i have no idea.

Hatley, we must follow the rules and guidelines of this site to avoid unwanted reports, some persons may take revenge by giving low rating and give -ve rating to our topics, we must be careful with this kind of persons

know i have also noticed it and i have been through it too. I was the victim of the troll. So I would like patrolling now.. i want to increase here and not decrease. great discussion hats.. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Hi, Hatley, there are several things going on besides just minusing people. Any time we have option to rate and we do not do so, we are bringing down the overall average of a person as well. I admit I am not as good as I used to be, at one time I would go through all discussions I participated in and give + to everything and to all. I still do rate + a lot, but not quite as much as I used to. I do the + for the discussion itself, and then + in any box I participate in and + for any comments on my responses, and then + to others in the discussion if I feel like it. So, we need to 1. be aware of trolls and stand up for anyone that is being bullied and 2. rate people + any time we get the chance and not get lazy about it. I am not sure if the newer users are aware of how important their + is to the fellow lotters.

I've said it before...we need to lose that negative button. I don't see any real good use for it and it leaves too much open for abuse. I haven't noticed this going on but then again, I've been very busy lately and haven't been on here as much. Hope they figure it out and put a stop to it real soon!

i could remember one mylotter here who said she believe someone was giving her negative ratings..even tho her posts are very good ones. So yes there might be a troll and it is about time admin could look it up.

I wonder if there are any actual good trolls here . . . the kind that are plus-ing everyone! Ah, so the people upstairs are able to check on who is trolling? Well I hope they get caught. The bad ones just must have nothing better to do with their lives than to haunt people this way - so lame, isn't it? I remember there was a big problem with this on Yahoo Answers . . . I suppose it's the same with any of these type of sites! Grrrrrrrr.

Hatley aunty: I remember two years back on account of this your account and another leading member's account were given lower mylot reputation and it took several months for it to be rectified and your mylot reputation was brought to 10. It is not known who spends time keenly for reducing the reputation of a particular member/s. In fact mysdianait--I saw has given how to give +,- !. Thank God for the last nearly six or seven months I am able to maintain 96% score. I know getting an increase over that may require more + because I have already posted more than 6000+. Anyhow thanks for your initiatives in this regard. another new member from Philipines is also in a problem --her reputation is brought down repeatedly and in fact she posted about it more than once also. I think this must be the work of another woman -- because woman only envys woman!!!

That's why we need some under cover mylot police here. Actually, in a way we do. Concerned Mylot citizens like yourself and others watch out for folks who get bullied or snarked and minused by trolls. When I find some wrong doing like that I have a special person I go to who watches everything.

Wow I dont even understand how there number gets so low so fast. That is very dissapointing to them. If I see a very low rating on a newbie I usually advise them what to do to post quality discussions and comments. You can only rate someone a certain amount of times in a day thats all thats allowed. They would have to have an awful lot of people rating them negative at once for it to drop their rating a few numbers over night. I give a lot of positives out.

Mine is always 7 with a white colour for this 1-2 years. Never change, whether raise or drop. I do ever give a minuse and also report a person cause his/r comment could brought a bad image for Mylot. Imagine if people watch it, and make a judgement that Mylot isn't good place to stay. Finally, most of his/r comment and or respond get deleted by the admin.

Trolls are just ugly 'nerds' (elves of the digital age) who don't agree with our purpose, and so by hindering us they think they will guide us to the right purpose (I know because sometimes I have to BE a troll, a gremlin throwing a monkey-wrench into the system that's not working for me as a regular user.) Don't let the trolls trouble you; just go about your daily routine, stay set to your purpose, and the trolls'll get tired of trolling.

hello there my madam... actually this discussion you started is a bang and like a concern story to us who i considered a victim of prank people for their mischievous reasons behind they only knew selfishly. hmmm sorry for the words like that. i almost lost hope with this, that is why i lost my perseverance to struggle harder in here because how can i have a joy in my heart that i could not maintain even my reputation to at least protect my standing. i am not asking for a perfect one for i know that would be too ambitious of me. at least i deserve to be rated fairly. to say my madam, you are the one who uplifted and give encouragement to stick even at my status. i do not want to delete this account for gone through with myself to this but maintaining the points of reputation would be so hard at the same time. i do not even want to get myself and to have a peek because i am scared to notice myself what is happening with my score ... thanks my madam for bringing this topic on air. i hope everybody would listen and pay attention to this. you and you :)))

Wow, thank you for this discussion. I'm somewhat new here and still getting the hang of things and slowly familiarizing myself with myLot, so I didn't know there are trolls around who are actually mean enough to sabotage someone else's account :( That is so sad. I've never liked trolls when I was on other sites; people usually suggest to ignore them and maybe they'll go away. But if these trolls can actually manage to 'minus' someone and mess up their earnings, then I say they need to be removed. As another poster commented first, we need a pa-troll team, maybe :P By the way, how else can we identify trolls here aside from them 'minus-ing' someone else's posts?
