I went to fix the screen of my laptop since it fell from the table and broke (I did start a discussion on this ) ..So there in the computer shop was a guy sitting to have his computer repaired because in his laptop something went wrong when he was traveling the last time. He had put is with the luggage and in shifting and all, something went wrong with it. Now another story of my neighbor who just came back from Dubai, his laptop also got broken because he had put it with luggage when he was coming. We all know how they throw the luggage at the airport while transferring. I would not keep my laptop in the luggage. I have not yet traveled with my laptop as yet but I would not put it with luggage. What do you say about this? Have you had similar problems? Do you keep your laptop with the luggage??? Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

riyauro I agree with you,,I would never put my laptop in a suitcase while travelong. In fact I would never even think of doing so. I suppose if I HAD to I would certainly wrap it up really well in bubble wrap and layers of clothing, but that would be a very desperate measure on my part. I would carry my laptop.

yeah it is true I would also go for bubble wrap in the most extreme case. Or else I would never leave the laptop away from me. lol Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

I would not,..It is not a good idea. You are right about the luggage thrown at the airport and that is why it is so important to request for a fragile note to your luggage specially if you have valuable things in it. I also fix laptops, computers hardware and software, and if a laptop was put into a luggage, probably the it is just a misplaced or loosen memory or hard drive and nothing will be replaced except for service fee's. Too bad if an lcd got messed up or badly banged. because its too expensive and sometimes irreplaceable..

That's the reason I never put valuable thing in my luggage. I prefer to hand carry it aboard my plane to India. They also throw luggage tagged with fragile here in my country and like you've said. it happens there too. So I guess we both have crazy people in our country and that the reason I love going there! LOL.

I never put my atop in the check in luggage. Even if you advised them to put a sticker "FRAGILE" on your luggage, it will still be handled the same way like the others. BUt one time, my husband has to check in his netbook because between the 2 of us, we already have one laptop each in our hand carry plus an iPad so there's really no more space. What he did is to wrap the netbook in between his clothes, like a protective cocoon around it. His luggage also comes with straps inside to secure the contents in place. I wasn't counting on it being damaged free after our flight but surprisingly it did!

yeah i know people who put it really securely in the suitcase but still it got damaged somehow. I have seen the way they throw the luggage. It is bad for the laptop anyway. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Hello riyauro.. keeping your laptop in your luggage is one of the thing you should avoid when travelling.. You should bring your laptop bag while travelling.. This is safer because your laptop will be on you all the time.. So, nothing bad can happened to it.. Unless something else come up..

yeeah I don't know what makes some people put it in the luggage. I wonder they don't want to carry the weight and then suffer the damages later,.Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Hi! I think laptops are delicate/fragile and even if they are kept wrapped in between clothes and other belongings in our luggage, there is a possibility of damage. I have not traveled so far with my laptop but your post is a kind of advisory that if we have to carry our laptop, while travelling we need to be extra careful, else if it gets damaged, we will have to spend huge amount on its repair. Thanks for sharing.

There's an OLD joke about the best kind of warning label to put on Luggage passing through an airport...it reads "FRAGILE-Please throw underhand!" But Seriously, it is a standing recommendation that you shouldn't pack electronic goods or Valuables in hold Luggage..Personally,up until now I've never owned a Laptop,or traveled with one,so have never had to pack one..Since my last trip,I've bought a 7" Tablet which should do Me ok while travelling..and I can keep it in my carry-on bag..

I think it is really not safe to put the laptop inside the luggage. Since the luggage will be thrown when the staff put it to the airplane. So I always keep my laptop to my bag which I can carry it with me to the airplane. I feel better in this way since there are many important data in my laptop and I don't want it goes wrong.

No, I don't put my laptop with the luggage or inside my luggage. I have bought this bag for my laptop so everytime I have to travel I can keep it with me. It is safer to have my laptop hand-carry. Also, I open and use my laptop while travelling especially here in our place wherein buses already have wifi facilities.

riyauro: My sister in law put the laptop in checked in luggage only when she travelled to USA from chennai. But we always carry it with us and we do not check in because luggage is bound to be handled roughly. How much did they charge for changing the screen of your laptop-- Rs. 3000/?

Hi riyauro! I have my laptop with me wherever I go. There are also times that I have some things with me when I travel. But never did I put my laptop away from me. I have a separate bag for this that I carried with me. This bag is water proof so I do not worry even if it rain. Yeah, sometimes I am already complaining because my shoulder is painful already because of the weight of the laptop. But I think this is the safer way because I know how sensitive this thing is.
