I get home from running errands the other day and my son ask me "what's wrong with Cocktail?" My doggie was kind of dragging her hind leg. She wasn't her happy jumping up to see me self.
I took her to the vet and he said it didn't seem to be broken, but her paw was bent funny which could mean a spin injury. Then he shows me what my bill would be if i allowed them to run all of these test and do xrays. $800. That's just for the testing... that doesn't include fixing what the problem will be. OMG are they serious?? They gave me some meds and said give that too her to see if they help. They did a bit, but i know i have to take her back. I think i will find another vet, because that is a lot of money.
I love my dog and i want her well, but come on. Have you ever had a sick pet, what did you do and do you think they over charged you?

I've had a few pets but I don't think they ever had to have anything done other than a flea dip. It does seem high but the cost is based on what the doctor has to do. Don't buy pet insurance, its a scam and most people never use it, like dental insurance, it doesn't cover major things that always cost money.

Actually, that's about right but it's outragious and insane but that's about how much it costs to have tests done to find out what's wrong with our pets. I have a cat who was hit by a car (we think) and we rushed him to the vet's and it cost us $700. but it saved his life. At the time he was 4 years old and now he's 8 years old. If I had it to do over again, you betcha I'd take him to the vet's!

hi 34momma oh my thats really pretty high. just for the tests
and xray and not including making your dog well too. maybe another vet might not be as expensive.way back when we had a dog it was not that expensive so things have gone way up now on pet care.

Wow! Good I know your vet bills are huge!
In my country, the vet bills aren't so big. It usually costs $8-$10 for a visit to a vet. If there is some injections or other medicine to give to the dog, the bill raise to $15-$20.
Didn't the meds they gave you help Cocktail? Does she still limp?
