A Question to JBP/Profitclicking members with referrals

Hello everyone I just wanted to know if I haven't upgraded at profit clicking can I get commission from my referrals. If one of my referrals uses the free pay it forward $10 to buy a package will I get a $1 commission or do they need to buy it with their own funds for that to happen. I hope someone can clear this up for me, Thanks.
