I have a very basic cell I have had for several years now..lol..it has served its purpose and that is all I have ever really needed it to do. My daughter has a smart phone and I have a basic..haha. I have been considering getting something better though.

I've had many people encourage me to get a better phone. I have a simple model that, as far as I know, doesn't even text--not that I'd want to learn, it would just be more money spent. $15 a month for it and the minutes add up if I don't use them. No fancy stuff, just a phone.
I read an article a few minutes ago about how people are spending more and more on phones. Couples who used to go out to dinner once a week are only going out once a month or less in order to pay for their newer, better phones and all the data they use. Data plans are getting more expensive. Families with smart phones are spending up to $4,000 a year on their phone plans!
I'd rather save that money for important things like financial emergencies or paying the bills than on a "better" phone. But then, everyone has different priorities.

The problem I have is looking for a contract as good and as good value as I have at the moment. I get 250 minutes, unlimited texts and internet for just £10 a month. All the similar priced plans really don't give you the same all round package.

If you can afford to but a better phone, then buy one for yourself. I guess there are many interesting apps that you could enjoy. I guess your friends want you to experience what they're experiencing with their phones that's why they are telling you to buy a better phone. It's up to you to decide though. You know your needs. Happy mylotting.

Well I used to change phone when it not working already.
You can listen to your friends recommendation but are still decide in the end.
My friends also suggest to me but there are some factors that I still consider before I buy a new one.

Well, my friends really did not recommend for me to buy a new phone even if they tend to tease my "vintage phone". I just ignore them and laugh with them if they try to make fun of my phone.

My friends sure have their own recommendations whenever I mention that I am looking to buy a new gadget. Most of the crowd I know are so into modern technology that sometimes they can just go on and on about certain phone brands and models and its best features and all that. Sometimes, it gets old, but often times, I find it useful. I don't have to research about what 's the best deal is, I can just listen to them argue lol!

I have recommended Hifi products to one of my mates who thinks I should get a new Phone as I know a lot about that kind of thing.

Can't say I really have experienced that from friends. Though I did finally get around to getting a new cellphone though two days ago. I kind of needed to after having my previous phone for in the neighborhood of six years. Just got another regular non-smart phone though.

Thanks for the response.
My mates have recently bought new Phones so they were asking when I would upgrade as they knew I've had mine for nearly two years now.
