Artina Prastiwi (22) students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta find inhibitors vaccine virus H5N1 (bird flu) in the body of poultry. The vaccine was found student from Nglipar, Gunungkidul is derived from Mahkota Dewa fruit extract that is widely available in all parts of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).
Thanks to his invention, a student at the end of this GMU won two predicate both money in the race penelitia done Scientist and Technology Society of Indonesia (MIPI) in Bogor, the end of January 2011. Two title race is a champion of research and best research work.
"Plants Mahkota Dewa numerous in various regions in the province, even abundant. Far, bird flu vaccines are all made ??from chemicals. Besides expensive, it's also bad for the vaccinated birds, so I am trying to create a vaccine discovery of herbal ingredients," she said talking saaat at UGM.
According to her, Mahkota Dewa fruit extract contains saponin compounds that function to inhibit the development of the bird flu virus. These compounds in appropriate doses can inhibit the virus reached 87 percent. "Through some research, I finally found the right dosage to effectively inhibit the virus within the poultry," he said.
Saponin levels required to inhibit the development of virus was 10 miugram / ??milliliter (ml). The vaccine used for poultry injected into its own only 0.2 ml
