How's my driving?

How's my driving - These are the common phrases found in buses and delivery trucks
Philippines

I noticed this phrase in most buses and delivery trucks or vehicles (see the photo). They are asking how you think they drive. Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) contact numbers are also given where they can send their reports. In spite of this, there are still lot of reckless drivers around especially those handling metro buses. I admire the LTFRB for having this campaign but there are some questions running in my mind about this. 1.Do you think this is effective? 2.Are those drivers aware that there are some concerned citizens that will report on how they drive? 3.Do LTFRB receive complaints in their hotlines? 4.Are there drivers and operators being investigated about this reckless driving reports? Good day mylotters!

I think if you would report any reckless driving on the number provided by LFTRB, it will be entertained as a complaint against the said vehicle with some details regarding the complaint, and this will in fact be recorded, and when the time comes for the vehicles' registration, then that's the time problems on the part of the owner of the said vehicle would arise. The complaint filed should be addressed first to get clearance for registration.

The agency gets all the complaints, put in on record. The vehicle involved will be included in the block list and registration would be pending unless complaint is cleared. On the other hand, the driver of the said complaint vehicle would also be added on the block list and his license will not be renewed unless cleared from the block list.

I think it can be a good idea to this issue but according to one comment, they don't have the legal rights to take actions on those reported reckless drivers. Furthermore, the aagency including the LTO will get lot of complaints too if they are going to hold the renewal of the driver's license.

I think this is a good move but according to the one that responded in this discussion, the agency don't have the right to penalize the reported one. If this is the case, this campaign is not effective at all.

I cant say it really effective at all. Almost half of the drivers are aware that they are being monitored. Of course, LTFRB receives tons of complaints each day but I dont any idea how to they resolved this kind of issue. I believe yes.

According to one response, yes they do receive lots of complaint but I think their move to ressolve the issue is not that strict since many drivers have their own reason to deny the report.

I'm sure they do received complaints every single day. For sure, since me often times reports reckless drivers that I had encountered everyday. It may not much, but if one or two reckless drivers would be given penalty in a year, then that would be a good accomplishment for me. But I see to it that the drivers whom I report where truly reckless. It would be effective if everyone will cooperate to this campaign.

Yes, if many of us especially commuters will report the said issues will be a good campaign. However, because they did not see anyone being penalized and in turn other will not be bothered in reporting reckless drivers.

Yes, i always see that sign in buses, my friend. As to its effectivity, in my opinion, it is not. How can one report a driver when on the first place, the number is at the back of the bus. The moment you alighted and the bus have gone , you won't be able to catch the telephone numbers therein. Though, you can get the Plate number and report it. Well, for it to be effective, people should always report if there is a violation. Although, i know that it will be denied by the driver.

But the numbers are also printed in other vehicles and try to get the plate number. However, drivers might deny the report when they are being investigated by the agency which makes this camaign really ineffective.

Hi asdomencil! I also noticed those phrase at the back of several vehicles. However, I never have reported anybody, but personally I think this campaign of LTFRB can be of help. We will not know unless we try it ourselves. There can be no better than having a first hand information.

Like you, even I saw many reckless drivers, I haven't reported them since I think my report will not go somewhere and no actions will be received. There are many busses especially those travelling from San Jose Del Monte to Sta. cruz via NLEx. They drive as fast as they can even there are many vehicles on the way. They feel that they are the king of the roads as they drive.

I first noticed it when I was in my college years. It really made me questions if this really effective as the LTRFB immplemented this rule to all Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) in the philippines. Well the signs really important for all the commuters like us. we can complain to the LTFRB office if a PUV driver will do something nasty or I mean abused the rights of a commuters.

Perhaps since most commuters does not see any actions on this one they just think that it is not effective. I think this campaign is good but needs more study on how to implement this properly and to address the complaints and reports received by the agency.

Well I guess it is good that these notices are printed at the back of PUVs so that we commuters are reminded to report anything you find about a reckless drivers. But at the back of these numbers I have no idea if LTFRB is indeed getting information from complaints. I do not know how us commuter react and report incidents since many of us are really not that eager in reporting this cases. So far there is no open reports that this is investigated I think for the sole purpose that anything under investigation must not be known to the public yet since it could violate the one being investigated if the agency would report it immediately to the public. I think with regards to reckless drivers, they would be existing as long as there are traffic on the road. I think some are just plain reckless and some are just accidental reckless ones on the road. I think minimizing them can be done but you could not totally weed them off the road for sure.

One that responded on this dicussion had worked as OJT in the said agency. True enough that there are reports but some of them are fake reports. Since some are just enemy of the operators. According to the comment, this is really not effective.

Hi there! I have seen those signs in every public transportation I take I think its a good help to commuters. But as far as your question goes,I think the LTFRB is doing its job in making the welfare of both commuters and their drivers safe and proper. But I haven't used those contact numbers even if I saw some drivers specially the bus drivers who is texting while driving .I was sitted on the back of the bus driver that time and honestly speaking I wasn't comfortable enough seeing the driver drive the bus with just one hand and his other hand and his eyes were stucked on his cellular phone.I couldn't help myself so I gently tapped the driver's shoulder and told him in a nice tone that you have commuters on your bus and our lives depends on your driving it's not bad to use a cellphone specially if its for emergency purposes and if situation permits, if you really want to read the message you can stop by at the corner of the road and read your message and reply and then start the engine again and lets continue with our travel .If you were a commuter on that bus on that exact time.,you wouldn't be able to get your cellphone and dial those number and report actually instinct will direct you to catch the attention of the driver right? hahahah maybe you can do it after an incident though.

Like yours even i see those numbers in every vehicle especially buses, I haven't made any single text because my mink keeps on telling me that they wil not any actions on those reckless driving. No one has been sampled for that. I think, if I were in your case, I would rather go down the bus and made a report on that driver afterwards.

I really don't know how to answer your questions. Maybe this campaign really helps or just useless depending on your city and the type of people living there. In my place, people are all concerned by what's happening around them--aside for those people who are aliens. I am sure those drivers are aware that there are people who gives feedbacks on their driving--at least that's how it is in my area. As for your questions on numbers 3 and 4, I really have no idea what's the answer for that. Have a nice day and Happy MyLotting!

I think yes sometimes such campaign depends on the people around your hometown. Sometimes, many are really participating while others don't mind with such campaigns.

I also noticed that but are there concerned citizens who bothered to send messages or call the LTFRB? Maybe there are only few who can. I don't really know if this is effective.

I think many does not bother since such campaign was not informed properly to the public. Furthermore, some people that report drivers does not see some action and this might be the reason for not reporting in the next occurence.
